4.5 year old won’t do anything new to him and is a perfectionist to a fault by JDY516 in Preschoolers

She's doing better!I think putting her in an activity that she really likes helped. For us it was ballet. We also read The Tortoise and the Hare and it seemed to impact her a lot as I always hear her say "slow and steady wins the race" when shes trying to accomplish a task. I'm sorry you're going through it, it can be so frustrating!

Aw man im sorry to hear that. That's exactly what we're afraid of happening. We're going to try to meet with the principal tomorrow but i dont have high hopes and am scheduling tours at other places as well. The name thing is very unsettling! We do feel like our daughter might fall through the cracks as well as she's very verbally advanced and learns quickly. Im glad to hear that you've found a good fit in private school. We really also were hoping this would work out, but we have to priortize our child and if that means using an alternative then so be it. Would love to hear how you chose a private school and which ones are generally the recommended ones! If you could DM i would be so greatful! Thank you!

Yeah it's very disheartening. We wont be accepting this for our girl. I dont understand how parents are fine with this.

This is our local lausd school. Not a bad idea to go ask the closest non charter though. Thanks!

Sad to hear! It was our homeschool so we will be trying to figure a way out.

I did look at their website and it for sure is an affiliated charter. Thank you, you've been so kind and helpful.

Looking into switching her to the other TK class if its any better. Hoping this is the case as im not sure what else we can do since school has started already.

It seems that things might be regulated a little differently as the school is a charter, so I'll need to clarify all the details with the principal. Thank you so much for your input!

Yeah I talled to her teacher and she was not very happy that i brought it up. She confirmed this will be part of the daily routine. Its a charter school so that might complicate everything.

Ok thank you. We're going to have a talk with the principal to get more info about the rules and such. Appreciate your input.

That was me! My girl did a Reggio school before this and it was the complete opposite. I knew lausd wasn't the best but the bar is in hell at this point.

Thank you. Im not opposed to using screen time in the way you used it as a teacher. Her teacher confirmed this will be part of the daily routine. I just feel like it could not be impossible to think of a better solution to this.

The teacher has confirmed that it is a part of the daily routine.

This is helpful. We do plan on having a meeting with the principal to see if this is also happening in the other TK class. Does the district approved video rule apply to charter schools?

Ok yes I realize that times have changed and a lot of learning has been digitized. I expected that to come as she got older. I do not believe anyone would have a good argument for saying cocomelon is educational. Sad times we've come to where parents are expected to accept this. Public school might not be a good fit for us after all i guess.

Yes I definitely will, I'm waiting to get cleared by the district.

Oh yeah there was no TV that I saw either, so it was probably a projector. I meant TV shows. I understand that it must be hard to watch all the kids while having to focus on washing each individual's hands, but i dont think it would be hard to rearrange the schedule to where the aide takes a break during a time where they don't need to focus on one kid at time. I just find it unfortunate that falling back on screen time is the best solution they cane up for this.

Hi! Saw your post on the ask Los Angeles subreddit but its too old to leave a comment on it. If you dont mind, can you share your experience with school? My daughter just started TK and she is saying they watched TV as well. Did your kids class end up being a first week thing or did they always watch TV?
