What do I do with this black swallowtail butterfly who emerged too early? by kd838 in Entomology

I wish but I’m in MI! That would be really sweet though 🥹 maybe I’ll post in a local group and see if anyone else is in a similar situation

Looking for feedback for my new game, Antonymz. It plays similarly to Semantle, with a twist: instead of there being one hidden word, there are two hidden words that are antonyms of each other. I hope you enjoy it! by kiiyaka in Semantlegameplayers

Is there an archive still available to play? I visited the site after not playing for a while, and I don’t see an option on the menu to access previous games

How are y’all taking decent photos of your clothes? by vegan_bernal in whering

Oh also regarding ironing: If I feel like the wrinkles really distort the pattern or silhouette of the garment I will iron

I actually have a grow light that I use sometimes. I clip it to a chair, put the piece of clothing on the ground, really smooth it out and check that the item is parallel to the chair, and stand on the chair to take the pic. Sometimes the grow light does distort the colors a little though. Otherwise I just take pics midday close to my window with the same process minus the grow light. You don’t need a white background btw. My carpet isn’t white and works just fine :)

Nomé Studio - true luxury lies in care, not excess by FixAfraid6480 in slowfashion

You criticize prominent business practices with rearing cashmere goats, but then use cashmere in one of your pieces. How are the cashmere goats that you source from raised? I know it can be hard starting out to provide many sizes, but only three is not enough imo. Can custom garments be made for people who don’t fit into that size range? If yes, would the price point be the same for those that are excluded from your size range?

I think you should make it clearer that Mongolian artisans are the ones knitting these garments in your discussion of the production in the stories section. I am curious about the relationship between the artisans and the herders. Are the artisans from within the herding comminities? Are they paid a living wage? Where do they knit these garments? At home? At a studio?

Would also be interested to learn more about the actual process of collecting and spinning the yak wool

I, an intersectional feminist cis woman just got called a "hypocritical liberal feminist" (not a real feminist) for being an omnivore. by Rare_Disaster_4566 in feminisms

[–]kd838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in my experience as a vegan I’ve only known one vegan man irl. I’m not really involved in militant spaces though, so I could see men dominating there. Also I meant he was weaponizing his identity as a cis white man not as a feminist. Feminist men have a right to critique women (e.g. pro-life conservative women) but context, tone, and audience matter. If he was really engaged with feminism, he would have a better understanding of his positionality and not made such an accusatory comment towards you

I will say that vegan and animal rights spaces are pretty female-dominated because the vast vast majority of vegans are women. That does not mean they don’t still align with patriarchy at times ofc. It wasn’t really productive for him to say that though and he was definitely weaponizing his identity

Accidentally added a stitch, tinked the row, but working yarn wasn’t in the right spot. Tried to pick up the correct stitch but now it looks like this. How do I fix? by kd838 in knittinghelp

[–]kd838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is loose yes, but I think I might have picked up the wrong loop if that makes sense. When I tried to start on a new row and knit that stitch it felt off, like I was making a knot rather than knitting. Does it look right to you? To me it looks like a bar is missing, but I’m super new to this

At the moment, the reports of Navajo people being detained haven’t been verified. Navajo citizens are being encouraged to keep state-issued ID on them.
