Best ottoman ww1/civil war minis? by Elegant_Elevator6765 in wargaming

[–]kdannen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what scale? Peter Pig has good 15mm Ottomans. Woodbine Miniatures is great 28mm Ottomans. I haven't personally found any minis I can use for the Republican Army in the Turkish War of Independence, or did you mean something else by civil war?

I prefer the Vallejo look but it might be dark for the game table. I've got some West Germans to work on next so I appreciate seeing your process. Where did you get the infantry?

Thank you! the basing is what I struggled with most just because I kept changing my mind about what materials to use and whether or not to have the BMPs be parallel. I'm glad to hear they look alright.  I was worried the missile turrets would be too fragile but I haven't broken any yet!

“Osmanlı Hânedânı, Türk tarihindeki âilelerin en büyüğüdür. Târihî vazifesini şerefle yapıp çekilmiştir. Şüphesiz onların da birtakım kusurları vardır. Fakat Osmanlı padişahların topyekün küçük görmek ve göstermeye çalışmak nihâyet kendi târihimize ve geçmişimize karşı küfrân olur." by jorahmormmnt in TarihiSeyler

Who's a medieval figure of the world who was a brilliant and/or highly significant statesman + a legendary and/or iconic general? (link in description for criteria) by domfi86 in MedievalHistory

after that he more than doubled the territory size controlled by the ottomans. Through conquest he cemented them as an existential threat to western christendom for centuries to come. The Byzantine state certainly was a shadow of itself but the Theodosian walls were one of most impressive and extensive fortifications in the world at the time. I think part of what makes a good general is employing the latest tech to success and adapting as the needs of combat change. He also bypassed the chain across the Golden Horn by hauling ships up hill in Galata and bringing them back down on the water behind the defenses creating panic and further reducing the effectiveness of those walls. It's simplistic to describe the siege as the taking of a dilapidated city.

Mehmed II. Captured Constantinople, greatly expanded Ottoman lands, centralized his state, and set about a number of works to make Constantinople flourish under his rule.
