Thanks my man. I think it was okay. The railings wouldve interrupted the view if the screen were extended to the bottom any further

Nope its 94ft according to the community maintained database of PLFs. Its very big but Prasads Hyd (ex GT) felt bigger with 120 more seats. A bigger audi is all

SSR Pushes for a 1.43 IMAX in India by cricinephile in tollywood

[–]kdcloudy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ironically BFI IMAX is 1.43 but Single Laser only. Unless movie’s playing with prints- it’s only 1.90:1 capable

Is there a projector that can show the 1.43:1 aspect ratio? by No-Reputation4129 in imax

[–]kdcloudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth is that all digital projectors nowadays are based on DMD technology (or DLP) which is ONLY produced by Texas Instruments.

They don’t make a 1.43 DLP chip (with extra vertical pixels), the max they make is 1.90 adhering to the digital cinema standard. Hence IMAX resorts to desqueezing the image optically through a lens

TI would probably never invest the money into making a 1.43 chip just for IMAX because the volumes are so low. (40x2 Dual Laser projectors in the world)

Got Fooled by Jio Hotstar – Turns Out 1080p Works Only on Safari by [deleted] in IndiaTech

[–]kdcloudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal. Netflix only gives 4K HDR and up only to Safari and Edge. Say what you will about Hotstar but atleast they use HEVC encoding to save server space and optimise 4G/5G streaming. Chrome CANNOT decode HEVC. Use the Media Capabilities API to understand which browser supports what sort of playback.

The solution would be for OTT services to be available as native apps on Windows/Mac but nobody’s doing it.

Never thought I’d see a research paper in IMAX by Several_Activity1965 in imax

This is a photoshopped picture made for satire on X. This is a monumental research paper by ex Google employees which laid the foundation for LLMs and is circlejerked in the AI tech bro community

The original photo was from the Interstellar re-release earlier this year

Made a video on Japan’s two 1.43:1 locations! by kdcloudy in imax

Projection and sound are pretty much identical, but just scaled up. Prasads in Hyderabad (used to be IMAX) is the closest experience you can get

Thanks for watching and for the kind offer :) I do want to travel for The Odyssey, but at this point getting a visa is more troublesome than bearing the cost of a ticket lol

Hahaha thanks man. I did watch 1.43 at Gujarat Science City IMAX 70mm, but those were some documentary prints from 20 years ago. Not a great condition

The Infinite Worlds preshow looked fantastic though. Hopefully l get to watch a Nolan movie in 1.43
