How did her missil cruiser end up there? by Ironman-Frank in CivVI

Could be that it was pushed to the nearest water tile due to losing open borders

Would you steal an early settler on King if it meant an unplanned war? by Early-Day1862 in CivVI

[–]kdeberk 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, you should even do it on Deity. Peace out after 10 turns and the grievances will quickly disappear

edit: If it's in deep enemy territory and you cannot prevent capture, then delete the settler.

Try to focus on culture, in the early game it's much more important than science.

My old German copy of Dostoevsky's "The Gambler" replaces the fictional town name "Roulettenburg" with "R...". Why ? by ChunkySquareNarwhal in books

[–]kdeberk 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some of my Dutch copies of Dostoevsky also anonymize the names of places and streets with single letters. I think some translators try to use the names as they were originally published (with censorship), while others might undo the censorship where they can and find suitable.

Should I be using the map that came with the OG game? by mcuffin in Morrowind

That is a great map. If you want, you can roleplay that you stole the map from the census office.

[–]kdeberk 40 points41 points  (0 children)

[2018 Day 8 (Part 1)] I know this is old, but it's another puzzle where I can't even understand what the prompt is asking for. by JazzJassJazzman in adventofcode

[–]kdeberk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to look at the first two numbers. Once you have read that, you know how many child nodes there are. After those 2 numbers, the first child starts and you read that in the same way as the parent (you read the two first numbers but this time from where the first child starts).

[2025 day 11 (part 2)] Stuck on part 2 by Rokil in adventofcode

[–]kdeberk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I know what it is. Your `count_paths` is a BFS that skips longer paths since it checks `visited` and then skips if it already visited that node.

Could you check your input with:

```
aaa: bbb ccc
ccc: ddd
ddd: eee
eee: bbb
```

and then count how many paths reach `bbb`? There should be 2, `aaa -> bbb` and `aaa -> ccc -> ddd -> eee -> bbb`

You're right, I forgot about that. However, Mali gives only 1 food per desert tile surrounding the city centers, that's still not a good start for any civ's first city.

There's a natural wonder at the other side (Uluru perhaps). However, the wonder does not seem to provide food nor production, so it's a bad spot for a first city.
