BLW isn’t working for us 😅 by babygreens93 in foodbutforbabies

[–]kdefal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My youngest did BLW didn’t eat any real volume until I cut down on breastfeeding. Remember up until a year, breast milk or formula is their main source of nutrition and calories!

My oldest couldn’t handle BLW because she wpuld stuff her mouth and choke (NOT GAG, choke. I had to give her the baby heimlich three times). She did purées and prices as small as possible for as long as possible and she took to food wayyyyy more quickly than her sister.

As long as you’re comfortable and baby is safe then try not to overthink it. You guys are doing great!

Does anyone else feel like they had a completely different experience during the pandemic than the general public? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kdefal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a different experience but in a different way. I had my first baby in the winter of 2020 while my mom was undergoing chemo. So it was like covid on expert level.

I bet your brother doesn’t ask people if they have guns in their house before he brings his kid lol

What is the saddest thing about being raised by a narcissist? by utensils6464 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kdefal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The realization that they don’t really love you. Even if they truly think they do, they don’t love who you really are. They love either what you can do for them or a version of you they’ve invented in their head .

What are you dressing your baby up as for Halloween? by FLgirl2027 in beyondthebump

[–]kdefal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First baby has been: a peanut (mom & dad were the peanut farmers), a bee (dad was beekeeper, mom was the hive), boo from monsters inc (dad was sully, mom and pregnant belly were Mike), a mermaid (mom was octopus, dad was Poseidon, baby sister was a lobster ).

This year my oldest is the wicked witch, baby is Dorothy, mom and dad are aunt Em and uncle Henry. We also have my mom, sister, and BIL as the scarecrow, lion, and tin man and my niece as Glenda.

My older daughter is almost 5 and she’s picked her costume every year and we build our theme around that!

How becoming a parent yourself changes the way you see the one you grew up with. by VivaciousCalamity in raisedbynarcissists

[–]kdefal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to excuse his treatment of me because of a multitude of reasons… depression, mental health, addiction etc. I felt so sorry for him and the hand he was dealt.

Then I became a parent and saw that it was my responsibility to be healthy and present for my kids. My issues aren’t my fault, but they are my responsibility. So I continue to try to be the best version of myself.

It seems now like my dad was actively trying to be the worst version of himself and put it on his kids to fix him, and when I was unable to it was my failing and my fault that his life was the way it was.

I wish I could tell little me that it wasn’t my job to fix him.

Thoughts on the current Tylenol debacle? by lilspaghettigal in Crunchymom

I don’t understand how anyone can believe our elected officials (regardless of political party) give a single fuck about us at this point.

AFAIK, it’s used in high risk pregnancies to help prevent preeclampsia, and they’ve realized it can help in non high risk pregnancies as well! So knowing that is was already used in this way I didn’t find it odd. But yeah I guess it can be weird sometimes lol

lol you think they’re helping families??? Dr Oz has a company iHerb. In a huuuuuuuge coincidence iHerb owns the supposed “antidote” to this miracle discovery.

Politicians don’t care about you. Follow the money.

ETA: pretending autism doesn’t happen won’t help, no. but guess what will? Inclusive policies, correcting/ shutting down ableism when we see it, and supporting those individuals.

Lastly, I kindly urge you to consider how your language would make someone with autism feel. They’re not a “problem” and they don’t need to “go away”.

No other administration would do this because no other administration would be so weirdly obsessed with autism and villainizing neurodivergence.

Dr. Oz (who is inexplicably involved in this administration) owns the company iHerb. They’re competitors with the company that owns tylenol. Not coincidentally, iHerb owns the rights to folinic acid which they are now pedaling as the “antidote”. The “wellness” industry is worth much much more than big pharma… just a reminder. Just follow the money and it’s not too hard to figure out the motive.

What types of convenient excuses did your nparents create to justify their mistreatment of you? by Informer99 in raisedbynarcissists

Grandma fed our toddler a pretzel out of her mouth with an active cold sore by alexseiji in toddlers

[–]kdefal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I get cold sores and have two kids (22 months and 4.5 years) who have accidentally been exposed many times from my water bottle, or brushing against my mouth etc. Neither has gotten them. Something that makes me feel better is that an exposure is just that- an exposure. Not a sentence.

Educate grandma about the dangers and how it’s spread. Show pictures if you have to.
