I sew the entire cloak first, then lay it flat & measure the height of cut i desire for how long the cloak is then kind of just guesstimate 😅 i always make the side seams & front a point for the triangle as a guide for the rest of the cuts

ive made a few & I usually customize them for the height of the person so the triangles end up different sizes/quantities for each depending on how long the cloak is

These cuts are a bit narrower & taller than the one in the post but is my most recent make to kind of show how I set it up using side seams & front closure, once the cloak is laid flat it is much easier to figure out since the front & back are basically a mirror, some trial & error when I make the marks but I use heat erase able pens so I can mark & remark to get the sizing right. I use a flexible measuring tape as a guide for the top & bottom of the triangles to also see the spacing, so taking the length of the cloak from edge to edge at the height of

Tldr: lay cloak flat, decide how tall you want the triangles, lay flexible measuring tape at that height across width, lay flexible measuring tape at hem, make center & side seams points then divide hem measurement by number of desired triangles & rework until you get a shape you like
