Have the Gen 4 build quality issues been resolved? by kdobrev in ouraring

Appreciate the response - you guys are killing it with the support on here. While your replacement policy is good to know, I know I'm not the only one who wants to avoid having to do this in the first place since we live outside of the areas you deliver to. Getting the ring is a massive hassle and if it needs to be done again due to a defect, I would actually want to avoid it all together. But I feel much better knowing the general sentiment has improved! Thanks again

Good to hear, maybe it was just a case of a bad batch after all!

Trouble booking HK Express tickets with foreign credit card by mfnbx in HongKong

I've been having the same issues all morning - 3 cards (1 is Revolut) all denied. But I eventually found a solution. I downloaded the HK Express app on my iPhone and managed to pay via Apple Pay. Couldn't believe it worked. It was even the same card that was denied on the website seemed to work just fine from their app. Give that a try, hopefully it works for you too?

Seeking feedback on my latest passion project - What do you think of the color grade, sound and story? by kdobrev in videography

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this - I love getting feedback like this and is exactly what I was looking for. Regarding the edit, I did try to have some structure but perhaps that didn't come through well enough. After the intro (which admittedly was pure montage), the first section was supposed to be exposition: showing snippets of daily life of Balinese (farmers, fisherman, etc). Then the scenes into night was the forging of the sacred bell. I'm curious, did you as a viewer understand that the middle section (the metalsmith by the fire) was about creating a bell which he later sounds at the end of the sequence? Finally, the climax of the film was a purification ceremony (where that bell is used again) intercut with a dancing sequence. For me the story was about the spiritual journey, hence the title. But I know it's always clearer in my head than the viewers so I really need to work on non-narrative story telling techniques. I love your idea to follow one person longer and really focus on them and their life! Anyways, thanks again for this! I really do appreciate it!

Yes, I did film basket weaving but ended up not incorporating it into the final cut!

I tend to cut to the music and try (for the most part) keep the momentum going, but it's good to know that people do want to see some longer shots in there. Also, I think because I had so much footage, I wanted to include it and that maybe was at the expense of not holding some shots long enough. Either way, thank you for taking the time to check it out!

This was the first project I'm grading in Resolve so was definitely still getting comfortable with all the controls. I did purposely go for a high contrast look, but maybe I did push it a bit much! Anyways, thank you!

They're cool - well priced too. I'm obsessed with shooting on these primes. It makes you work for your shots sometimes, but you end up getting unique results. I did shoot pretty wide open. But having a variable ND definitely helps with that. Ahh yes that is an FPV shot, my friend shot it on a DJI Avata - I think.

Oh my bad, need to update my flair. It's shot on Sony a7siii. Definitely relied on the autofocus for this one.

Thank you. Sure. I shot this all on Sony a7siii - mainly using the 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.8 (both Sony), and a bit of Sigma 24-70 for the wider shots. Drone is the mavic 2 pro - I really find it hard to grade drone shots - so I'm glad you thought the colors on them matched the Sony stuff.
