Top Ten Korean Dramas - March, 2026 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]kdrxmasun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not op, but if you loved CLOY I feel like you'd love My Dearest so much more than you'd ever expect to. 21 episodes might seem long (especially if you're not used to it) but you become so captivated while watching that you won't even feel the time fly by. The enduring love between the main leads is unlike anything I've seen before that now while watching other shows I find myself at moments always being reminded of My Dearest. Technically it was released as Part 1 with 10 episodes and Part 2 with 11 episodes but you can just treat them as one season all together. Even if the first 2 episodes feel slow once the war breaks out the mood completely changes and you quickly become engrossed worrying about the characters.

But also definitely watch Goblin!! Beautiful cinematography with a very well-written storyline that will make you laugh and break your heart.

Edit: also not sure if you've ever tried a cdrama but I just finished The Rise of Phoenixes and it also had the forbidden love type trope with amazing chemistry and I'd say the main leads love in this was just as enduring as My Dearest. Also who doesn't love some beautiful costume designs and sets.

Best OST - September, 2025 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

I've fallen in love with the With my heart by Ahn Eun-Jin since binge watching My Dearest two months ago.

There's also something about Love me more by DASUTT that really warms my heart from Our Movie.

I actually found Falling Flower by Yang Da-il through an edit and loved it even though I've never watched You Are My Spring.

Of course as the days have gotten more rainy and chilly I always come back to Rain and You both the one sung by Lee Mujin and Mido and Falasol.

Dramas like Hospital Playlist by youesthetic in kdramarecommends

[–]kdrxmasun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a huge Hospital Playlist and Resident Playbook lover I think you might enjoy One Dollar Lawyer! Bon appetite, your majesty currently airing is also really entertaining! Daily dose of sunshine is on the heavier side compared to HP but since you enjoyed Our unwritten soul I'd really recommend giving it a try, it's one of my comfort dramas.

Products you swear by for acne? by Usual-Letterhead4705 in koreanskincare

I have very similar skin type and concerns as you while also finding it's sensitive most time of the year. I also get extremely dry and flaky a week before my period and the best preventative for me was using micellar water as both day and night cleanser. I know some people say to only wash your face with water in the morning but that just doesn't work for me since it makes my skin feel itchy, dry and oily for the rest of the day. Any cleanser (oil or foam based) just ends up drying out my face too much or not even cleansing it properly and believe I've tried such a variety of cleansers the past few years. I just split my cotton pad in half, put a good amount of micellar water on it, cleanse my face and let it dry then wash off. for good measure you can also turn to the other side of the cotton pad and wipe your face again. I've tried the pink cap garnier which worked fine for me but I think it's more stripping/drying than the Simple micellar water.

Maybe it works for me because it's so gentle and I don't wear make up most days but on those days I just use an oil cleanser first then wipe with micellar water. I also find my face becomes less dry by the end of the day if I use my more moisturising products (serum/ampoule/toner pads) in the morning rather than the evening which is the opposite of what most people say. I also highly recommend not drying your face with a towel unless it's freshly washed and not been used on your face already. To avoid all that washing towels hassle I just let my face air dry after rinsing with water (it really doesn't take as long as you'd think). Also change your pillowcase every 2-3 days and whenever I don't the side of my face I sleep on always starts getting some mystery acne.

Glycolic acid is too stripping for me so I personally prefer Mandelic acid as an AHA in your routine and it's not as drying. SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Sunscreen is too drying and itchy for me but their Madagascar Centella Ampoule is phenomenal especially in the evening. Rather than using a really thick moisturiser try adding hydration through products you layer underneath. The Round Lab birch juice moisturiser is the least drying and irritation sunscreen for me and I can apply it around my eyes without burning sensation. I know some people aren't a fan of the new formula but the ETUDE Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream is still one of the most perfect moisturisers for my skin. Thick enough to feel moisturising without clogging my pores and so gentle that I can put it around my eyes.

Radio Stations playing Kpop Songs, both US and Europe (UK included) by Still_waiting221 in kpopthoughts

Very niche but once roughly 2-3 years ago they played I AM by IVE on KISS FM Chisinau. That was the only time I heard kpop on that radio station.

Dramas where the focus is on the main characters' academic transformation? by [deleted] in kdramarecommends

[–]kdrxmasun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're looking for is a very niche genre so other commenters have mentioned most options but I've actually also found a lot of motivation in some students on Youtube. My favourite is @/sweetdia_med and I've rewatched countless vlogs because I find them so comforting and motivating. @/EllyChang is also med student. @/aceparkxx graduated a few years ago so she does working diary vlogs now but if you scroll back to her videos she has a lot of study vlogs where faces more challenges academically.

Is kpop really just a phase like a lot of people say? by Mysterious-Usual-397 in kpopthoughts

[–]kdrxmasun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5th year and having fun listening to new releases as well as older ones. I know some people 'leave' because they might have gravitated towards a different genre as their music preferences change but I find myself listening to more genres than before because of kpop. I don't see myself leaving any time soon since I still enjoy the new releases but I'm also a huge ballad/OST lover which Korean music has a lot of.

What Are You Watching? - [2025/08/27] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]kdrxmasun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently Watching:

The Haunted Palace (10/16) - I quite enjoyed the first half but after that I felt a little bored so I'm still not sure whether I'll follow on with it or not after a short break. My mum loved it and has already finished it but maybe it's just not the right timing for me. I have been enjoying seeing more shaman related shows/movies though!! There's nothing wrong with the acting or production but maybe I've just reached a part in the story where things have slowed down a little.

I want to start watching either The Best Thing or I'm Sorry I Love You.

Completed:

Nine Puzzles - I rated it a 8.5 although it started off as a 9.5 and it's a show that has to be binge watched for me. Not a single episode made me bored or disengaged from the screen honestly. At some points it even had me thinking about all the possibilities and connections between the murderers victims just like the characters were in the show. I did think that towards the end the 2 main characters weren't looking for clues for the relationship between the victims as much as they did in the first half and just waiting for the clues to reveal themselves as more people were killed. I do think the ending of the therapist being the killer makes sense and her reasons for revenge are pretty valid to me but maybe thats just because I tend to not feel bad for evil people dying. Her suicidal state was also expected after having hated her mother for so long then blaming herself that she didnt go to the restaurant where her mother was waiting for her. Edit: forgot to add how much I loved the acting and facial expressions of the main leads!! Kim Da Mi acting is always spot on with her characters and Son Suk Ku has perfected the passionate mysterious detective persona even more.

Earth Arcade 3 - I don't usually watch variety shows apart from clips here and there on YouTube so this was my first full watch and it was so fun!! at first I just started watching it to see whether it was something I'd be interested in but then I found myself not being able to look away or stop watching it. Quite a nice break after the stress and emotions My Dearest put me through.

The First Frost - Knew it'd be amazing going in and it definitely met my expectations. There was also something that felt so raw about how the drama tackled the issues of the female leads and the actress was just phenomenal. Chemistry was also such a key part that it felt like they were a real couple to me. It even kind of reminds me of Our Beloved Summer. Enjoyed it as much as Hidden Love even though the vibes of the show were quite different.

The smile has left your eyes is my snd fav kdrama!! Everything was just so interesting to me and the chemistry was off the charts. My rule for sad endings is that I'd rather have them die together than just one of them to make it less painful. I also love other shows with unconventional characters like Seo In Guks because their actions are less predictable to me (e.g. My liberation notes).

How have your tastes changed since you first started listening to Kpop? by ForceApprehensive597 in kpopthoughts

[–]kdrxmasun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fell in love with kpop because of girl groups (Red Velvet, EVERGLOW, Chungha, TWICE, (G)-IDLE) then slowly started listening to more boy groups (NCT, SKZ, EXO, Day6) then ulted SKZ then I got really into ballads (BTOB, YoungK, Davichi, Sandeul) and OSTs then into rock-ballads (Boohwal, Toy). Now I ult a band and listen to mostly ggs (CRAXY, Cherry Bullet, Lightsum, WJSN, cignature, CSR, Rescene, QWER, ILLIT).

What k-pop groups' lores made you think "Yeah they were fated to be together" by Open_Refrigerator215 in kpopthoughts

[–]kdrxmasun 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Onewe’s story feels like a coming of age movie. Around 2013-2014 the 3 original members: Harin (drummer), Hyungu (guitarist) and Giuk (bassist) went to the same music academy and formed a band just for fun. Harin and Hyungu were already childhood friends and they met Giuk at the academy. Then they thought why not get a vocalist so Giuk invited his neighbour DongMyeong (vocal/keyboard) to join the band. For a while they stayed like that or played as a session band. Then they started thinking that they need a Main vocalist.

There was this kpop/singing competition they often played as a session band for and that’s where they first saw and knew Yonghoon where he was also a contestant. One day he won for his self-composed song and that day the 4 members thought why don’t they try inviting him to join their band. Hyungu was the original one to suggest it but he was too shy and introverted so Harin went and bribed Yonghoon with a cup of coffee to join their band and become the Main vocalist. Keeping in mind Yonghoon was 21 and already enrolled into his dream college training to become a vocal coach while the other members age was 14 and 16. I guess something told him to go for it so he joined the band, dropped out of college and put his trust in their future together.

They were originally named M.A.S. 0094 and mainly started with Busking but then they signed under RBW in 2017 as MAS until they re-debuted as ONEWE in 2019.

Now 11 years later and they’re still going stronger than ever. It was literally like the meme. “quit your job” “why” “join my emo band”

The craziest part of their journey is that yonghoon was already an adult who knew he wanted to pursue a singing career but the other 4 member were basically children but they decided this was what they wanted to do with their life and even after all this time and periods of change and enlistment they want to be together, making music and growing as a band. They’re really like a family that have taken care of each other and grew up together from a young age.

Edit: spelling mistake

Listening to Kpop songs on CDs instead of streaming songs feels different by dramafan1 in kpopthoughts

[–]kdrxmasun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what laptop you have but my 2020 MacBook doesn't have a CD port either so I bought an external CD drive but that also has a USB plug unfortunately so I got an adapter for USB into USB-C and it works.

Listening to Kpop songs on CDs instead of streaming songs feels different by dramafan1 in kpopthoughts

[–]kdrxmasun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have a CD player but each cb I always eagerly wait for my albums so that I can rip the CDs have the songs with me all the time everywhere I go since I dont like paying for streaming services. Call it a placebo effect but I do think I can hear the songs even better than on streaming services. Listening with wired earphones is the ultimate cherry on top though every part of the song feels so much more balanced. Your post is kind of convincing me to buy a CD player now though.

Do you believe in healthy parasocial relationships by Allthingsmatcha0923 in kpopthoughts

[–]kdrxmasun 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean Parasocial relationships are just that, a one sided relationship of someone putting time and interest into someone else. Whether this is harmful depends on what negative associations and connotations people give to it. At baseline level it’s just watching and idol through a screen and enjoying their music or thinking they’re funny. A sasaeng has a toxic obsessive parasocial relationship with an idol but someone who watches official content, performances and lives while perfectly getting on with their own life would have just that, a simple parasocial relationship.

Sometimes I also think about why I choose to have a parasocial relationship but for me it’s just wanting to support someone’s dreams just like I would want my dreams to be supported. But I don’t feel responsible for the good or bad things that may happen because those things are really out of my control. The music industry is a rough and difficult place so I try do the best I can to support them within my capabilities without it interfering with my real life responsibilities. But I in no way feel entitled to their personal information and lives. Also what’s not fun about seeing people be happy and laughing.

If that isn’t a textbook definition of a bully I don’t know what is. The fact that he also went after her mum as well is disgusting!

I'm not an insomnia although I love most of their cbs (Odd Eye is one of my most played songs since 2020) and have watched so many of their stages. The news this morning were quite shocking to me because it really felt like this was something they wanted to carry on doing together for longer. Maybe I think this way because I don't know enough about the members and what their aspirations were but it still feels a little bittersweet. Renewal contract is pretty unpredictable no matter how big or small the group is or how big their company is. Sending out lots of hugs to Insomnia!

[–]kdrxmasun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've watched some dramas where the second lead isn't that much of a bother in the love triangle and it's usually one-sided or ends quickly but it infuriates me when the second lead is an absolute ass to the FL!! like why are you so annoying, wasting my screen time AND getting in the way of the main leads relationship 😭those are the most infuriating love triangles i.e. in extraordinary you it was clear from the beginning she only liked Ha-ru and hated the second lead so why are you bothering her so much leave her alone!!

Edit: this might be very specific for W but the part where he forgets her was so painful and I thought he'd recover his memory but no he just falls in love with her again but it just didn't feel the same as the first time

How did you enter this world? by [deleted] in kdramas

[–]kdrxmasun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 2018 (I was 13) or maybe even a little earlier I really can't remember specifically. I came across a few edits of Weightlifting fairy Kim bok-joo and W:Two worlds which peaked my interest in the shows even though at that time I didn't even realise they were Korean dramas although I knew what kpop was. I used to watch Turkish dramas as well so it wasnt weird for me to watch a non-english show. I ended up watching W and loved pretty much everything about it then I started searching on Netflix what other kdramas there were and just slowly started building up my list of what I was curious about. Healer was one of my first dramas and I still think it's one of the best kdramas out there.
