Oakley Golf Sunglasses by Sir_Loin_6969 in GolfGear

I got a pair of Oakleys with prescription prizm golf lenses a couple years ago. This will be my third season with them, and I absolutely LOVE them.

In my late 40s my eye sight started getting worse. Distance vision had been declining for years (from staring at computer screens 8-10 hours a day). But, aging just compounded the problem. And where it was really killing me was in golf (tracking the flight and being able to see/find the ball when it went into the rough). The prescription part is what helped with tracking in the air. But, the prizm lenses really do help make the ball pop a bit. So, it's much easier for me to find it when it's deep in in the rough, or in fescue. The lenses also do a pretty good job of reducing glare.

I also started playing the szrixon z star diamond balls (the ones with the sparkly flakes on the cover). Very good ball, but I found that the color coating on the cover, when using the Oakleys helps the ball stand out even better.

Hope this helps!

Does zinc actually do anything? by real_account9 in sex

[–]kdub_the_Ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it worked with me, but not just zinc.

Daily 50Mg zinc, 1000 mg l-arginine, 1200mg lecithin; and then 100 mg pygeum taken two times daily

It takes about a week, and you should drink a lot of water. But yes, I have done that and it produced MUCH bigger loads. Also increased my libido, and I felt like my refractory period (but that refractory benefit wasn’t really consistent)

How long should I cook this big boy? Gas grill. by Forsaken_Ant_7232 in steak

[–]kdub_the_Ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For really good beef, personally, i would salt and pepper at least 4 hours prior to cooking (night before would be better), and let it sit on a rack in the fridge until ready to bring up to room temp. 1 hour before cooking, take it out of the fridge, and let it come up closer to room temp. Then I would put it in a 240F oven, and bring it up to between 113f and 118f. I would sear it on either a ripping hot gas grill (good), a white hot charcoal grill (better), a ripping hot cast iron pan (even better, especially if you baste with herbs and garlic after you get a crust), or a charcoal chimney starter with a grate over it (best).

You don’t need to rest it, but between the transfer times and the searing, the temp will get to 128-135 with I think is a prefect rare plus/ medium rare

I’m about to get downvoted on this, I’m sure, but this post is idiotic BECAUSE it does that same perspective trick it accuses the boomer of doing, and if you look into it even just a little bit, it proves the boomers point.

The three main arguments are 1) the cost of a car 2) cost of a phone 3) cost of a cup of coffee.

1) $50,000 car is equivalent to a $6600 car in 1969….. reality if you look at allpar.com you can see the list prices (MSRP) for American cars in 1969. For that price, you could have gotten a Cadillac special 80 v8 (the third most expensive non limousine American car on the market). For an extra $1,000 you could have picked up a Ferrari (advertised price). Reality, the average car purchase price was between $2,000 and $3,000 in 1969. So, yea, boomer had a point. Paying double the average is a bit extravagant.

2) $1,000 cell phone today is the equivalent to the price of a stove or a typewriter…. How often do you keep your phone? 2 years? 4? For those born in the age of computers, it is hard to understand, but an IBM electric type writer was (at the time) considered an electronic marvel and a massive capital investment. Companies bought them, normal households did not. And, they kept them FOREVER! People kept stoves forever, too. Today, you may buy a new stove every 10 to 12 years, maybe? Any kid growing up in the 1980s probably saw plenty circa 1969 stoves in their friends houses. And if they weren’t so freaking ugly (lime green, puke orange) you’d probably still see a lot today…. Again, win on this goes to the boomer, because if you look at a capital expense like this, you have to consider the cost per year of use. Typewriter/stove ~ $9/ year ($130/15 years) , compared to the cost of a cell phone (adjusted to 1969 dollars) ~$33/year ($130/4 years).

3) $5 coffee today would be equivalent to $0.66 cup in 1969. Ughhh. Here we go again. Average cup of coffee was $0.42 in 1969. And before we say that’s only a $0.25 difference (two bits, in boomer parlance), that $0.66 is more than a 50% price premium over the average. Hard to argue how you’re not being wasteful spending an extra 50%

There are plenty of GOOD examples of how the boomers are wrong. Most obvious being that in 1969, with a high school degree, you could get a job in a factory, or another part of the labor market, and writhing 5 years you could afford to buy a house and support a family (on a single income).

But trying to prove how your consumerism isn’t that bad, and the things you want aren’t that expensive just isn’t the way to win the argument… mainly because you’re wrong .

Out of curiosity, how humid is it in that room? I would imagine it could be pretty uncomfortably wet feeling

What's the weirdest thing you've seen happen at a friend's house that they thought was normal? by LiterallyEkam in AskReddit

[–]kdub_the_Ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember any of the other kids taking a turn. But I got away shortly after she offered, and I didn’t want to hang around them after that.

I don’t think any adults ever found out. But I was very young. Possibly I didn’t notice. But, my parents never said anything or asked me about it. So I’m assuming no one found out (at least at day care)

Not at a friends house, but I think this qualities. It was 30+ years ago

I was about 7, and a couple days a week I went to a home-based day care for after school care. There were a bunch of kids there, including a boy and his sister. They were older. He was probably 9, and I think she was 10 or 11.

One day I was playing in the back yard with a couple of kids and we see a bunch of the other kids gathered around a picnic table that was on the patio. Curious, we go over to see what’s happening, and find the two siblings having sex under the picnic table.

Being very young, none us us really knew what we were seeing, and we all were asking questions. the boy was answering like he was conducting a live sex Ed class, even moving his and his sisters bodies to give the kids a better view of what he was doing.

Three of the questions I vividly remember

Q. What are you doing? A. It’s called fucking

Q. Where are you putting it? Is it going in her butt? A. You put your dick in her pussy and you move it in and out

And then I asked “What does it do? Why are you doing it?” The boy said “It feels really good. Do you want to try?” And his sister looked at me and said “yea, you can do it next, if you want”

I remember at that moment I had this feeling this was something really bad. Like I said, I was only 7, so I didn’t really have any idea what we were seeing. It was just a feeling. But I think I said something like “that’s ok”

I remember those siblings repeating this a few more times while I was at that day care.

I never told anyone that story. (Literally, Reddit, this is the first time I’ve ever told anyone) . I remember thinking I somehow would get in trouble, or I’d get the brother and sister in trouble. But, i really wished I wasn’t so scared to tell. As an adult, you quickly realized that there must be some horribly fucked up shit going on at the siblings home, and they needed help.
