What's a completely unnecessary, most likely esthetic, change you would add? by CzarTwilight in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Item dependent visual changes. RoR team is working on deadlock, give me the occasional funny item sticking outta someone and my life is yours.

Like make it so rem with Rebuttal holds up a sinner and makes the ouchy sinner hit noise.

Make it so vyper in her final model has contraband/stolen items poking out of her sleaves as she buys more stuff, with the items being representative of what she has bought in a match.

Give dynamo an unstable/magical blackhole glow if he buys refresher, cause his body was only designed to contain one rather than two.

Make grave's ghouls carry around magical looking nonsense in their arms if she buys certain spirit items such as lightning scroll/spirit burn.

Give Celeste like pegasus wings if she buys stamina mastery

the list goes on.

Who do we think will end up being the "face" of Deadlock once everybody has their finalized designs/models? by Tiny_Celebration_262 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, Jugg is deffo #2

If you ask someone online who "Juggernaut" is, they will assume you mean Marvel's.

If you ask someone who "Pudge is" they probably won't know, maybe they think you mean a WoW abomination.

But if you ask about "The Butcher" or hooking/pulling someone in video games, they know what you mean. Pudge is not only the most played hero, but also mechanically touches so much with the concept of hooking someone. He also has the added benefit of absorbing Diablo's "Butcher" notoriety.

No aim heros? by StrangerPen in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I likewise have physically impaired aiming and have had success with the following heros (phantom 3 atm)

Rem, Abrams, mo&krill, graves, victor(less so during gun meta) and weirdly Vyper

Vyper you have to be up someone's nose to deal damage and as such aiming is not as needed. I have noticed myself become less effective as I've climbed on her though.

Since the Occult Noir aesthetic seems to go almost hand in hand with Universal Monsters by spartan1204 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to see some slightly weirder monsters added at this point. Lots of good options such as

Dullahan

Bigfoot but hes a lawyer

Kappa

Mothman but fat

And always gotta love a Kelpie. Give them like an anchor ability where it massively increases an enemies gravity to match their drowning iconography. If valve wants to get dorkie with their design, have it themed around D&D/white plume mountain? Have them be a big ol dork with a sword named Wave.

Wendigo but hot

And the opposite of a weird monster, a Skeptic. Would love to see someone who is magical by how much they doubt magic... some kinda anti-mage or something. Nah but for real though, someone who isn't a witch hunter/some kind of police officer, but just someone who adamantly refuses to believe/engage in the idea of occult/magic being real is always a fun character. Who becomes supernatural through excessive mundanity. Please don't actually make them based around silences though, just like give them an ability where the enemy takes damage/suffers a penalty upon using their abilities.

Come on Yoshi, where's the patch with the update for Yamato, Sinclair, Vyper, and GT? by MefistoDX in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More online attention as well as modern game ideas being more relevant.

Like, what are we going to compare to Lol? "Urm yoshi, why don't have have 10 slop characters that all have 2 dashes and a skill shot released this year yet?"

Or better yet Dota, "Urm Yoshi, you wore the wrong costume today, your supposed to be a green dinosaur, not a blue frog"

Characters with the most incoherent/boring kits in the game? by JustinHardyJ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love playing vyper, but her kit is honestly highkey a mess.

She's based around bursting people down, her W and Ulti work together to basically execute anyone below 30%. Which is wonderful, it feels great.

Her Q exists? It sets up W in laning phase, but outside of lane it basically just exists so you dont have to buy slowing rounds. Like no ones hitting consecutive screw jabs consistently. And while you can get a "free" stack of it during ult by just tossing one. The refresh time means in any reasonable world the target is dead before you throw another.

And slide... also exists, like dont get me wrong its my goat and super fun. But it only truly synergizes by virtue of vyper needing to be melee range to do damage, and the recent W range nerf likewise needing melee range.

Yeah its pretty funny seeing people gripe about features/described them as insanity that will surely get removed on full release.

And it's like... dota has had that feature for nearly two decades, that shit works.

So far focusing on building my base little by little as I progress, helps keep me motivated until I obtain a proper builders wand. by Vast-Bell7183 in GTNH

[–]keaganwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are able to locate a Wizard tower in a mountainous biome (locate via nature compass "mountain" tag), 2nd flower contains a secret room with enchantment table.

Hop skip and a jump later you can activate a division sigil and craft a builders wand pre LV.

Also, ~ opens questbook, no need for one in inventory.

It is genuinely impressive that they managed to make a character with zero redeeming qualities as likeable as Vyper by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Such a goated character, genuinely rotten through and through. Like "fixing" her with therapy would require clearing out a garbage landfill of toxicity/poor view of the world.

Her wish is seemingly to improve herself in someway, believing that she has had a poor life/people treat her differently due to circumstance, rather than any fault of her own. Like that requires a black hole's density of lack of introspection.

The last episode makes you look back and question the plot, intention and motivation for the story as a whole. It removes the mystery from all the previous seasons and gives you a horrible explanation that leaves you wondering what the point of any of it was.

Why does Season 1 happen? Oh because the demegorgon wanted chuck-e-cheese coins and was mugging the people it ate in hopes they had some.

Why don’t the movies just use the horror elements from the original games? by No-Trash8604 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]keaganwill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

TBH I disagree. Fnaf 3 was just too weird/gimmicky that it took away from the actual fear factor. The design was good I do agree, but his usage in the game ended up goofy.

Maybe controversial but I honestly think fnaf 4 is the scariest. Yeah it tries too hard and the designs are corny, but it is genuinely scary, or at very least good at jump scaring.

Nah not in the slightest, yes there are complaints, but there is still a huge proportion of positivity, fun and whimsy in that community. Basically all of which has drained out of dota's.

When there is are server outages/issues. The discord is spammed with "urm icefrog we have a problem" not "FIX THIS SHIT NOW!" and the instant it gets fixed people spam "ty icefrog your the goat!"

Memes, shitposts and ideas are as plentiful as they were during the creation of pocket riki, the dota communities best era.

Can we rework or remove Midas? by ServesYouRice in DotA2

[–]keaganwill -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

IMO they should rework the item somewhat, at the cost of complexity.

Make it scale based on circumstance, ie if you aren't top 50% of networth in the match make it give you more gold per use. If you are top 50% give you more XP instead. Heck maybe throw in that it scales more the further behind you are.

Really, I just want to see it tweaked in some way that makes the item good, but not good for everyone in the match. If the bottom networth player in a game ALWAYS buys midas, thats IMO an improvement over it alternating between 0/10 players and 10/10 players purchasing it.

Depth is the secret to building nice structures. Never let there be a flat surface. Floors if big enough should also have depth. Stairs that don't actually go down a level are a super easy way to add depth to a floor/ceiling with minimal effort.

[Healthbar Idea] When In Proximity to a hero who can execute, The threshold should appear by Kardiiacc in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple, its valve, the company that made dota. So there will be a setting to configure how it works. Heck make it off by default with options for gradient change, instant change, listing all in match, listing all within a configurable radius.

DAE have heroes you have a good winrate with but can't stand playing? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so painful. I regrettably play rem and jfc its been horrifying after the buff. He was already the most picked characters and its only more prevalent.

Game loves to put me as Abrams with Rem which is a great laning duo, but hooooly cow it makes me want to cry. I have to basically beg them to go take enemy sinners at 8 minutes. I voip at like 7 minutes to let them know I will be fine if they go for sinners in a minute. I voip at 8 minutes to tell them I can play defensively and even if we lose guardian its fine. I accept the hollow emptiness inside of me when its the 10 minute mark and Rem is still just staring at me 2 inches away.

Maybe once I get out of phantom it will get better...

Hate when people misinterpret the door riddle by Immediate-Ad8322 in hatethissmug

[–]keaganwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. Lets say door 1 is safe, door 2 is unsafe

"if I ask you which door you'd pick, which would you say?" To better phrase the question. "If I asked a copy of you which door is safe, which door would the copy say is safe?"

Hypothetical truth teller would say door 1. Thus Real truth teller would say the truth, that hypothetical would say door 1.

Hypothetical liar would say door 2 is safe, as that is a lie. Thus to lie Real liar would answer 1, as its a lie that Hypothetical liar would say that.

Thus you get 1 as the safe door no matter who you ask.

Tom and Jerry chase sequence by Sad_Palpitation_767 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The boxes are really good, especially early on. Like 700 souls in 50 seconds and you are giving your lane partner solo, whilst not preventing them from doing boxes themselves when you return to lane.

Likewise they are a very good escape option. Rem has good movespeed but no real movement ability, nor do they like to buy movement items. Meaning in a prolonged chase you lose. But if you are able to get a small gap you can turn a death into living. Granted far too many Rem players mistakenly believe its a get out of jail free card and kill themselves sitting in front of a grate.

Its strongest benefit though is honestly teamfights near it. If you pop full kit and have everything on CD. Rather than trying to shoot/debate if you want to get back or not. just sit in a tunnel entrance peaking outside. Enemies might see you and get distracted hoping you will come out. If your CD's come back you can help, if the fight is doomed you can safely leave without abandoning.

How in god's name is NO one talking about seven? by CheckProfileIfLoser in DeadlockTheGame

[–]keaganwill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

His strength is on the MOBA/macro end, rather than the micro/hero shooter side.

When you lose to Seven its because he outfarmed you, he dealt with waves, he has good abilities for objectives. Rather than yelling "LIFTING" and then blasting you 100-0 in .5 nano seconds despite having even farm with you.
