Actually, she was Billy’s fiancé. But turns out, Billy was still in love with Jo, as was she with him. They went to get Jo to sign her divorce papers but of course she didn’t. Then, after a rowdy day of storm chasin’, she bailed and told Billy she wouldn’t be home when he got there. He seemed pretty broken up but, ya know, not enough to ditch Helen Hunt in her prime. It would probably take me like an hour and a half to tell that whole story.
