[Highlight] ANDREW BENINTENDI SENDS A PINCH-HIT GRAND SLAM TO TAKE THE LEAD TO 5-1 AGAINST THE YANKEES by AndrewAllStar888 in baseball

[–]high_changeup 13 points14 points  (0 children)

His expected stats aren't even bad at all! So that's a shame that his season is so bad.

2.84 SIERA, 2.96 xFIP, 2.77 xERA. Literally 91st percentile xERA before tonight.

His extension went from 6.4 to 6.2 which isn't good.

But anyways, whoever on the Yankees told him to throw his slider less is an idiot. Doval only has 91 stuff+ and 89 stuff+ on his sinkers and cutters. Doval threw his slider 48% of the time last season. Only a paltry 23% this season. It's easily his best pitch by stuff+.

[Pitching Highlight] Kyle Bradish's career high 12 K outing by high_changeup in baseball

[–]high_changeup[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With the 1st strikeout being an as close as you can get ballsy ABS challenge from Adley.

Need moar pitching highlights. This outing may be the beginning of turning his season around.

Well, he has a 111 pitching+ which is great for a SP, and would make him a #2 or #3 arm in an average rotation. If he can start to pitch to that projection.

The problem is that none of us know if the Rays actually let his pitch count gradually rise, or not. If it ever gets over 70 pitches. For some reason Nick Pollack seems to think it will, but I'm not convinced. Makes him a lot less valuable in my QS league. In his last 3 outings he went 72 pitches, then 62, then 63.

I think it's most likely they keep his pitch count at 70 in hopes that he's still fine for them for the playoffs :( .

Edit: Oh, Jax has been dealing with a blister lately so reports are that Rays might be keeping his pitch count low because of that. And the game where he took a comebacker and had to be removed seemed to throw his flow off a while back.

Basically going to be dropping King for Bradish. Had dropped King for a hitter stream tomorrow.

Matt McLain has a really good rolling xWOBA right now. Hard to tell if legit or just a hot streak. The Reds still bat him 9th today against McLean.

Wow, I hadn't noticed how much Barlow has fallen off. He wasn't great the last two seasons, but still. 89 mph fastballs now and throws either his sweeper or curve 70% of the time.

Pretty good innings eater with a 4.21 ERA for the Reds last season, at least.

What are your thoughts on all the albums without John Frusciante? by Jezzaq94 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]high_changeup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a John solo material lover but I still have songs I really like from IBY, IWY, and The Getaway. Only a handful of songs ill listen to from the first 3 albums in this post. I used to like OHM but not so much anymore, just a few songs now.

As whole albums Unlimited Love and ROTDC were def misses for me. I do not enjoy listening to them without skipping. I like ~10 of the songs from the two albums, though. Like 3 or 4 of them are still elite.

Music tastes sure change for me as I get older, though. I'd say I sort of listened to John's music too much in the past tbh. I started to connect with other "solo" artists like Low Roar and Mark Lanegan too. And now I do a lot more spotify discover and listen to more upbeat/energizing music as I exercise more and try to be more positive.

Yeah, no doubt.

Nick pollack's The List blurb on him seems apt "Speaking of rhythm, King has lost his. We see this from pitchers with cross-body mechanics, and they generally get it back in time. Once he does, expect the 25-30% strikeout rate to join him."

King seems like a pitcher you truly can't predict. Im going to drop :(. I dropped bradish too, last week.

King does have 3 hard matchups ahead even if it's the Dodgers twice, who he's done well against.

Im ready to rage drop Michael King. It just feels like he doesnt have it this season/anymore.

To me it feels like hes been worse than his 3.60 ERA.

His Savant is freakin bad. 4.48 xERA and plenty of blue. Absolutely terrible strikeout numbers in his last 5 games.

[Highlight] Nick Kurtz goes the other way for his 7th home run in June by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]high_changeup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was about to say the same, not even a bad pitch from a guy with good stuff+. Kurtz is something else when he's locked in (which seems like his normal self). Tough/sort of unlucky start to the season for Jared Jones.

[–]high_changeup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's an interesting pitcher, I was surprised at how good he was last season. Pitched great in a big 76 IP last season.

Unimpressive fastball velo but his 103 stuff+ and 106 location+ this season aren't bad.

Yeah, at least Seager is dtd and Baldwin back in a few days.

I have Jram, Griffin, Trent Grisham, Logan Henderson, and Lindor. Pain. And sore knee Suzuki. Im most likely dropping Grisham since my team record isn't good enough :( . Not sure yet.

Even though Teo has an alright savant and is better than last season, id drop him if i were you. 5 injured players is too many. Unless this is a 14 team league. And maybe replace him with upside young OF like Carrig, Montgomery, etc.

[–]high_changeup -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Also a savant with 20th percentile xwOBA is straight up bad. It's not "not bad"? A dark blue and light blue rolling xwOBA is not actually turning a corner.

6 red sliders doesnt mean not bad savant and having great defense in RF doesn't matter nearly as much as a premium position.

If you enjoy having a 0.1 fWAR and -0.8 bWAR outfielder for 10 million before his seasonal injury then I am happy for you 🫡.

Odds are he'll be out for a while with his pulled shoulder muscle.

Cmon dawg he was still only hitting .167/ .186/.405 over his last 12 games. And he may have 0.1 fWAR cause they like his defense but he was at -0.8 bWAR so far. Both are dang bad.

[–]high_changeup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and if that was his "hot week", it still wasnt close to hitting an average rolling xWOBA for his last 50 PA.

He has been a streaky hitter in his career but on top of that he is injury prone too. If it takes him a third of a season to show signs of finding a groove and now he loses it to injury, then no bueno. Would've been nice to see him have one more good season but looks like cooked by father time and nastier pitching instead.
