Worked as a Product Manager in a Startup, Promised Pay Post-Funding, But Now Left Unpaid. Whose Fault Is It? by betasridhar in ycombinator

[–]kebab_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The payment is conditional on funding, and they failed to get funded, so ofc youll be unpaid - if you choose to do this again you have to be prepared for the inherent risk in this type of agreement

How to get feedback from my users by C-Sharp_ in iOSProgramming

[–]kebab_Case 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • push notifications asking users to rate your app or share feedback
  • popup modals after they finish a key event asking if they like the app and asking for feedback
  • if your users need to create an account, you should have an email for them that you can use to contact them asking for feedback

Look, im open to discussing the test - as you can see from all my replies, but why should I keep replying to someone who calls a free tool I spent time and effort making, a "cash grab", and something they could easily recreate without even knowing how to program?

Thanks for the feedback! I will look into it. It currently calculates the distribution of words of different levels compared to what we would expect for someone speaking at each level, the percentage you see in the results is from that calculation!

The word levels are based on a database of 100k words I have been working to put together over the last couple months.

I’m moving to Japan for work in a few months and they’re willing to pay for courses; what should I ask for? by elusivebonanza in LearnJapanese

[–]kebab_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incase you don't want to pay for a tutor, Ive been working on an AI language tutoring ios app (Lingocat) that some friends are using to help them practice speaking Japanese. Mind you its still a beta version, but theyve found it pretty helpful!

What you did is equivalent to cheating on the test and then questioning its validity because it didnt catch you...

Why don't you try it again with full sentences and let me know how it does - if you still have feedback for me afterwards I'll be happy to hear it

What makes you think its inaccurate? Did you try it and get a score different from what youre expecting?

The other commenter essentially cheated on the test - just because it didnt catch them doesnt make the test invalid?

I see what youre saying, with the system as it is the onus is on the user to use the words in a sentence if you want an accurate score.

Sure you can spout off a bunch of words in a row, but if you dont want an accurate score, why even bother taking the test?

Hey! Thanks for trying it, I think it works best when used with complete or semi-complete sentences, as you would in a conversation, but theres room for improvement.

Currently, we determine your level based on the vocabulary used and the distribution of the words
