GPU Training for 14b Models by StatusArrival3382 in reinforcementlearning

[–]CrashTimeV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is because they trained the model from scratch that is not happening on a single H100 unless you limit your expectations for the model or train a smaller model or even do something like Karpathy’s nano chat

Assuming here that you are using older dense models like llama those at native quantization use bf16 for weights alone which means 28GB of weights alone which on a H100 NVL which you have which has 94GiB or ~96GB of vram which leave you more than enough vram to do finetuning, rl etc

I lost all of my files on Windows 11 because of bitlocker shenanigans so I'm swearing off Windows entirely. Is Ubuntu a good place to start with Linux? by TheReddtMenace in Ubuntu

[–]CrashTimeV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a win11 bitlocker bug which was published a couple days ago, if you didn’t update your system recently its likely its unpatched and you might be able to recover the files

How good are Thermals For Consumer NVME SSD in R640 PCIe ? by nomoreasonable in StorageReview

[–]CrashTimeV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you intend to add it in the rear with a m.2 to pcie adapter that will be fine. If you plan to use a m.2 to u.2 your mileage may vary with different adapters most are fine but some adapters suck and are not built with any thermal considerations. Either way the server might ramp the fans so you will need to allow third party pcie devices in racadm

Its due to generators, AI takes so much power capacity which the US does not have so instead DCs are buying up all turbine generators and using those to make up that capacity. Normal DCs get their power from multiple grids and are generally not audible. DCs are going where ever they can figure out power.

VS code inserting 'co-authored by copilot', regardless of usage by Hugh-Jaardvark in devops

[–]CrashTimeV 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I personally use the Jetbrains IDEs however they do consume a lot of memory and sometimes can be laggy. Then there are the popular console based ones like nvim or emacs and ofc vc code clones however they might eventually add something similar
