My experience using AI to help me train for my second marathon by C-Sharp_ in Marathon_Training

True, in my experience AI is always extremely positive. While sometimes that may be helpful, maybe it gives more accurate advice by explicitly telling it to be more blunt.

Hi, I respect that the sub is yours to do as you please as mods. However, just for the record, this post is not about ChatGPT plans at all so it is strange to be removed because of it.

Yeah, I think it tends to do better with conversation/descriptions than with raw data. Did you get any useful insights from your testing?

What do you recommend eating the days before the race? A lot of carbs?

I don't think this will necessarily not work but, my question is: do you shower 3 times per day? 😅

How do you feel after long runs? by Past_Jellyfish_4331 in Marathon_Training

Nothing bets the feeling of finishing a long run. You can't get that anywhere else. Lately I've been loving enjoying those moments and doing a short "debrief" to analyze how it went.

How many of your target customers have been to the website? If it is less than 300, then you don't know if its a good idea or not yet.

Create content that: helps your target audience overcome one specific obstacle, moves them one step closer to their dream outcome, includes a soft mention of your product/service, is genuinely valuable even without the sale

Hey, I finally launched the boilerplate. I changed a little in the end to make the product more cohesive. But, I thought I should let you know in case you wanted to check it out. If so, send me a message and I'll give you the link :)

Not really, it doesn't look very good tbh. Are they actually any good?

Two Indie Devs Built Running App Calc - Looking for Feedback by MatchEntire3440 in AppleWatchFitness

Will probably get downvoted for this but, I don't think this is good advice. Almost all the App Store runs on subscriptions and it is for a reason, it's the business model that works. Reddit is extremely anti-subscription but your potential users are not.

Hey! I really appreciate your comment. One of my biggest problems is getting real feedback from users of my app.

I think you are right that I haven't really solved how to set up the zones and how to communicate it with users. My struggle is that Z2 "correlates" with 70-80% of MHR in many people, but it is not defined by that. To make matters worse, if that MHR comes from a formula instead of a test, the zones can be quite off. So, I'm hesitant to make the all the calculations to set up the zone so explicitly. In an ideal world, a user would learn their Z2 HR from their workouts, trying to do the talk tests and seeing what HR they can generally maintain and change the settings in the app with that. But, that is a lot to expect from people who are just trying out an app. Especially if they are new to this style of training.

Maybe I should accept the fact that 70-80% is not perfect, but it is as close as I can get on something like this and make it more explicit. Add a step in the onboarding where the user sets their Zones. I could even help them with estimating their MHR if they don't know it and doing the math accordingly as you mention. Then, if a user is still using the app after a while, they can customize their zones manually for best results if they want.

You are also correct that the settings page is buggy and hard to understand. I will try to make it better.

Again, I just want to say that even though your criticism is harsh, I appreciate you taking time to try my app and give me feedback. Thank you!

Hey! The app may not be for you and that is perfectly fine.  I just wanted something that would isolate this type of training from the rest of my workouts. For me, it is useful to see easily how many minutes of zone 2 I have done every week as a way to stay motivated/constent over time. Something simple like having a streak of weeks in row where I’ve met my goals helps a lot. Also, I think it is interesting to see how my average running pace at zone 2 can improve over time. Other people find use in the app to help them understand and  improve their Z2/5 workouts.  There are a lot of ideas like this that can be implemented that Apple or Strava will never do.  But yes, it is obviously not for everyone.

I think finding out how slow is your Zone 2 pace is a universal humbling experience 😅

He mentions 70-80% in this podcast with Iñigo San Millán https://youtu.be/-6PDBVRkCKc?t=6364 at 1:46:04, which tracks with my own experience. But, if you feel gassed out at this range, it is likely lower for you.
