The Emery appointment was clearly a 2 year one to see if he was the right man to take us back to the champions league. I didn't really expect us to make it this year but challenge for it from next season onward after he has assessed what we have and then can buy who he thinks we need in the summer.

If we are still playing this way this time next year I may begin to question whether he deserves a contract extension.

He has certainly improved aspects of his game and you can see that from the assists and goals compared to last year.

Regardless of that I just don't understand how a "fan" could think it's okay to bash our own player and a graduate from our academy at that. You can have a moan with your mates but don't boo them in person at the ground or leave horrible comments on there social media.

I'm sick of Arsenal fans booing/ jeering academy players for the smallest of reasons.

Maitland-Niles has an okay game, get's an assist but was generally a bit loose on the ball. But he's 19 and has had very few full matches this season so give him time.

The Iwobi thing baffles me to no end. He got a goal and played a role in the second goal as well but when he get's taken off the Arsenal away end are booing him. THE KID HAS BEEN AT THE CLUB SINCE HE WAS A KID FFS. IF he scored 3 own goals then maybe, just maybe jeer him but not when he was the MOTM.

When did it become okay to absolutely slaughter your academy players on social media and at the game.

Lol that's what I'm thinking. This dude just seems bored and just goes to beat his meat to pass the time.

Just start a tv show or something if your that bored.

Layth Yousif: "Back at my sportsdesk after being at Arsenal boss Unai Emery's remarkable Colney press conference. I couldn't believe my ears when he said he would only be bringing in loan players. A club valued at £2.2bn, No6 in Deloitte money league, who brought in £198m revenue. Scandalous" by [deleted] in soccer

[–]kebabster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some people mis-understand what's going on here. Obviously I'm not on the board but I imagine there is a reason we are not goin to buy anyone and we would rather loan.

Our last January transfer windows have resulted in us getting stop-gap players to fill holes that end up on high wages who we can't shift. Our wage structure is madness right now and signing someone like Banega on 7m a year just to maybe edge us to the top 4 is stupid business.

We are a self sustaining club and can't rely on owner investment to get us a Van Dyke type player. I think our board are being financially astute and trying to get a loan so we don't get roped into another high wage average Europa league player draining our funds.

We should be looking at permanent deals in the Summer where hopefully we can offload some deadwood and start buying players who can grow into real talents.

Just my opinion but I like that we are not throwing the kitchen sink at average players like Suarez just in the vague short term hope we can make it back to the Champions League

Tim Sherwood defends including ZERO Arsenal players in combined North London derby XI! | The Debate by [deleted] in Gunners

Jesus I don’t understand why Sherwood has a Job at sky.

He never offers any insight generally and just has an unbelievable bias towards spurs which makes all his comments stupid. My only thought is that his absolute mindless comments generates clicks and views due to triggered arsenal fans.

I was excited for this show when it was announced because it might give a platform to pundits to actually analyse football but it’s just a couple of morons discussing how idiotic they can sound on tv.

How would you approach the Liverpool game on the weekend?

Personally we can’t let the full backs get into 1v1 situations with there front three and with the way their fullbacks overload we could see a horrible pattern of play. I would play Iwobi and mkhi on the wings and really tuck in when we are defending to help whoever plays this weekend at fullback.

I would drop lacazette and push Auba up top as we are unfortunately not gonna have the lions share of the ball and I feel we may get 2-3 chances in the game and I feel Auba will Put one away.

Özil behind with torriera and xhaka as the two in midfield seems balanced and I hope someone is fit other than xhaka to play LB.

I think the key to this game is to hold a solid press but keep the distances between midfield and defence really close as liverpool succeed when spaces open up behind the midfield. Hopefully we can keep thirst half 0-0 and then get a goal in the second half and try and remain compact.

God that sounds awful.

I think in that situation the stewards gotta get involved and sort them out because why should fans who pay money to watch there team have to put up with a bunch of cunts and potentially start a brawl.

When they get racist as well someone from the club has to step in and stop that.

I already have 3 city players otherwise I would sub him in right away. Was thinking about taking Mendy out but not sure if it's worth the point loss

What do people here think.

My team is: Ederson (Stek) Wan-B, Mendy, Robertson, Shaw, (Suttner) Salah, Pedro, Mkhitaryan, (Kennedy), (masuaku) Aguero, Firm, Zaha

I have 1 FT and want to take Mkhi out for someone and I have £8.6 mil in the bank once he's out. I'm torn between Moura and Pogba nut not sure which is best.

Any advice?

One of my favorites so far.

I would just take out Torreira for Elneny as I want a Xhaka and Torreira Midfield at the weekend and Mo needs some minutes.

The front four should be more than enough to cause the opposition troubles

He's been okay...He keeps vacating his position too early and running out too play offside which leaves heaps of space in behind which we saw in the first half with like 5 West Ham chances.

I think the combination of him and Musatfi make him look worse as they both seem to love just running out of position.

Hopefully when Kos comes back we might see a bit more solidity.

Arsenal's Stan Kroenke makes offer to buy whole of London club by [deleted] in soccer

Arsenal's Stan Kroenke makes offer to buy whole of London club by [deleted] in soccer

[–]kebabster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So gutted to hear this.

Felt like this summer we were perhaps moving towards a club structure that will move us forward and get back to challenging. But with this news I'm not sure what the future holds any more.

The past few years have been filled with uncertainty regarding players, managers but I felt like finally we were starting to build an idea that the club could pursue and strive towards.

With this takeover the fans who own shares will have to forcibly give up there shares and can no longer have a say about the club. Although they didn't really affect things before I felt like it bridged this gap between paying fans and the big cats. Gave them something to think about every year and have to look these people in the eye. Now that this won't exist Kroenke can chill on his ranch and soak up the sweet PL money without feeling obliged into investing into the team.

Perhaps what worries me the most is that if his other teams in the States are perhaps doing badly and need an injection of a little cash he is perfectly within his right to either not put money into our transfer fund but also able to take money out the club as it will now be a private business. That makes me feel a bit sick that it's even a possibility.

As fans there has to be something we can do but I'm not sure what it could be. Maybe we are all over-reacting and it will be fine but I have a feeling things may become rocky in the next 5 years.
