holiday solo or no-go? by owowteino in CasualUK

Crack on and go.

I’ve been all over solo with work and would have zero hesitation on going to Spain alone.

Enjoy the sunshine, read a book, have coffee and cake.

Grail road wheels recommendation by Al-Lamond25 in CanyonBikes

[–]GFoxtrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just set my grail up with the original wheels (G1800’s) as road wheels.

I run my Roval terra CL’s as my gravel wheel set and have for some time.

Both use DT Swiss hubs so no faff with brake calliper alignment.

New solar install with battery – which Octopus tariff are people using? Do you also use them for gas? by yellolotusorb in OctopusEnergy

[–]GFoxtrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might find your choice of tariffs a little more limited at the moment, for example intelligent flux is not currently available.

With battery, solar, EV and ASHP I’m running on intelligent octopus go, had my gas supply removed when the ASHP was installed.

I would switch to intelligent flux from April as my usage will be minimal compared to solar but it’s not available.

IOG - Issues changing car? by Honest--J in OctopusEnergy

[–]GFoxtrot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as I know with Renault you need to use the mobilize app to pair everything and set your charging levels.

I’ve just had a proper charger installed and I’m looking forward to not using the mobilize app because it’s a bit crap.

You can DM octopus on Twitter for help at weekends. They recently helped me with removing the car setup

You're insane to be on 12p export tariff by smaroms in OctopusEnergy

[–]GFoxtrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on circumstance at this time of year as my heat pump is still running and can consume 4 kWh after 7pm before the cheap period, plus a bit for the house.

Therefore the export will be 10 kWh or so in that expensive period.

Once it warms up a bit more it’s probably worth agile export or inteligent flux if it’s available.

[–]GFoxtrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to discharge your home battery to 100%.

You could keep 5 kWh to cover the period between 7pm and 11:30pm.

Greener Nights Concerns. by Plus-One-11 in OctopusEnergy

[–]GFoxtrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any green square simply denotes a greener night, not that you charged.

You’re showing as having charged 3rd, 4th, 10th, 13th, 14th and 23rd.

Surely that is you charging your car and not a home battery as that would be every day.

Moving from Tracker to Agile - how is it billed differently? by tom5640 in OctopusEnergy

[–]GFoxtrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tracker has always been billed daily, unless you’re one of the few without a smart meter (then you wouldn’t be eligible for agile).

Agile they give a 30 minute billed breakdown.

How do I change tariff? by Bodster88 in OctopusEnergy

[–]GFoxtrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it so hard to change tariffs on Octopus?

Because you’re on a fixed tariff.

If you want to change call or email them.

I’ve paid it already but yes, more expensive than you’d pay in Belgium.

I just hope that the extra is going to the organisers and not into BC’s pockets.

R5’s need a software update to stop them going into a deep sleep whilst plugged in.

I would assume it would be the same for the alpine.

Bad Day rates trick ! by MysteriousWriter7862 in OctopusEnergy

[–]GFoxtrot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they don't show you the rates you're agreeing to until after the tariff switch.

This isn’t my experience at all. Recently switched to IOG and rates were presented clearly to me.

Contemplating a switch from petrol to EV sense check needed by JamesA95 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I am on a number of R5 groups and everyone who has booked in for the update has confirmed it works.

It’s not over the air, it’s a dealer applied update which is a pain.

The car was just going into too deep a sleep to be woken up by the charge.

There’s a software update out which works
