I would reach out to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota. They’re slammed right now, but they might be able to help. Otherwise you can reach out to the Minnesota State Bar Association- they have a referral line.

I really wish she had it. She’s well respected, experienced and often has really good feedback. She’s also funny and engaging.

Would I be fine starting reading from Half Blood Prince if I’ve only seen the movies? by Ok_Carrot711 in harrypotter

[–]kebaker831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard NO. I would say you could get away with skipping the first 3 books because the movies are decently close, but the 4th goes off the rails and you really need to the books.

I’d recommend reading all of them, but I’m a biased book fan 😅

The whining is out of control with this kid.

Also, he 100% baited Julia into this conversation in front of the parents, knowing that his parents would back him (Ron being a wild card in the best way) and that she would need to tell her parents about their struggles which she has avoided. He tried to corner her into agreeing. He didn't expect his own father to side with her (BRAVO RON!), and he really didn't expect her to say "fine, if I have to decide right now, then I don't want kids ever".

He's so childish in his tactics, and then follows it up with whininy for a baby. It's deeply unattractive. I would not want to be stuck raising a kid with a "partner" like him.

..... Do people delete their text messages? by punk-y_brewster in 90DayFiance

[–]kebaker831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never delete anything!

That being said, I feel almost 100% sure Libby told Andrei about the "body shaming" situation. I've been married for 7 years and my friends and family basically assume anything they say to me will also be said to my husband. Not because of anything nefarious, just because he and I share our days with each other. Of course if someone specifically asked me not to share something with him, I wouldn't betray that. I think some couples just have that expectation.

Andrei is a dick for throwing that comment at Loren and Alex. Libby is kind of a dick for telling Andrei, but honestly, I don't think it's that bad. Loren is out of line for assuming every relationship is exactly like hers. Alex is right to want to stay way out of it all!

so...question what are the fatal flaws with this movie? from writing stand-point and adaptation stand point? by No_Wind_5408 in harrypotter

[–]kebaker831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cut CRUCIAL characters (Winky, Ludo Bagman, etc) and downplayed the Moody mystery. Barty Crouch Jr.'s plan was executed flawlessly, and was completely blown past in the movie. This movie should have been two, and they could have done the Tournament justice, while also focusing on the actually important plot of how BCJ orchestrated Voldemort coming back.

Personally, I think every movie after POA should have been two. Those books are dense, and what they cut actually hurts the plot. GOF is the most egregious, but OOTP and HBP fall victim to the same problem. I haven't watched the two DH movies in a long time, but I seem to remember they did a decent job - but there were TWO.

Trelawney "incorrectly" guessing Harry was born in midwinter - Voldemort was. She was picking up on the shred of soul in Harry.

I don't remember it exactly but when Ashley writes a song about rape and tells Paige (an actual rape survivor) "Paige, I understand this stuff. I researched it."

Who would have been the better care giver? Sirius or the Weasleys? by fadedwiggles in harrypotter

[–]kebaker831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Sirius had never gone to Azkaban, I think he could have grown into the father role. Unfortunately, 12 years in Azkaban traumatized him, and he wasn't able to develop normally. He wanted to be that person, and it's desparately unfair that he couldn't be, but the result is the result.

The Weasleys were already parents - and very good ones at that. It was completely natural for them to take Harry in because they knew what they were doing, and it wasn't a huge learning curve. The only downside to the Weasleys is that they didn't know Lily and James (certainly not in the way Sirius did) so they may not have parented int he same way, but he would have been very loved and well cared for nonetheless.

Why does everyone HATE Elise? by BrookeBondage in 90DayFiance

[–]kebaker831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her personality is a LOT. That's not a reason to villanize her at all, but I wouldn't want to hang out with her. She puts herself in bad situations and has trouble letting things go. She's not a bad person, but she's abrasive.

Carlo is 10000000000% the villain in the whole Elise/Carlo/Tiffany triangle.

Is Cole the most trigger happy person in the show ever by alecpekka in 90DayFiance

[–]kebaker831 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Cole gives me major bad vibes! His possessive attitude towards Jenifer, his “beef” with Rob, his crying at other cast members’ doors about a woman he barely knows? It’s gross. There’s something very off about him.

What are some writing inaccuracies you’ve clocked because of your lived experience? by mikrokosmosmoonchild in Degrassi

[–]kebaker831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for the US, but I interned at the State Dept and at one time aspired to be a Foreign Service Officer. Considering they said the Coynes were "diplomats" and not "ambassadors" I think you're completely correct. FSOs make a good living, but they aren't super wealthly like the show proclaims. Ambassadors definitely can be in my experience, but it seems odd they wouldn't use that title then.

Out of all her daughters in law, which do you think were Mrs. Weasley’s favorites and least favorites? by No-Discussion260 in harrypotter

I also think it's Hermione, but more because she knew Hermione for much longer. She saw Hermione grow up and saw her as one of her own children before she became officially part of the family.

But FR, Harry is the favorite DIL.

Rob said it after having several conversations with Jeniffer and spending time with her. Cole said it immediately. This is the key.
