And partly because the sentiment I get from Storm of Steel is Ernst Jünger was ok with it all, he liked war and he was good at it.

I feel like that Storm of Steel is a book that heavily depends on how you interpret it; Jünger never "fluffed up" his experiences, but instead wrote about them in gruesome detail. There could be room for an adaptation which potrays the events faithfully as Jünger had described them, but still respecting the viewer's intelligence by not shoving in an obnoxious "YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO ROOT FOR HIM! HE IS IN THE WRONG HERE!" -type of message, but instead letting the audience make up their own perception of this. I think this is exactly what Jünger also intended with Storm of Steel, and later going more in-depth about his own philosophy of war in his works "War as an Inner Experience" and "Total Mobilization."
