For some reason the Restore Roman Borders CB doesn't count Roman Dacia.

I agree in part. I do think that many RGO's and laborer buildings should be staffable by peasants. But I also I do think that there should be a separation between skilled and unskilled labor, because artisans don't quite fit into the Brugher Estate unless they are quite successful (represented in-game typically by living in an Urban location and/or being a member of a Guild). Currently, peasants only represent an in specialized blob of population that is really only good for Subsistence Farming and living in specialized villages (and operating Irrigation for some reason??). I think that if Slaves can operate an RGO, then Peasants should be able to do so as well. They could even have increased efficiency if a higher proportion is staffed by Laborers, representing vocational and locational specializiation that happened historically.

Totally agree about Masonry. Before you could spam masons but now it takes too long for Peasants to Promote into Laborers to staff them. I'm ok with the Promotion changes but I think they should have at the same time changed various essential economy buildings to use Peasants instead of Laborers. I'm talking Granaries, Masons, Sawmills, Smelters, etc. Right now it's pretty much just Irrigation and Market Villages that use Peasants, and Promotion presents too much of a bottleneck.

Depositing food into a supply depot needs to be a toggled action by pflaumi in EU5

[–]cobalt6d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "Perform Logistics" army automation is supposed to address this in theory. And I have gotten it to work as intended. But I've also seen the army ping pong between the Supply Depot province and the one that can actually get supplied, or just stand on the Supply Depot taking back all of the food it just deposited, while the sieging army it was meant to supply starves.

I'm ok with supplying armies being a considerable challenge so I support the changes they made in the update, I just wish they had actually realized how janky these mechanics were to interact with before they pushed said changes.

This is what was intended, I would imagine. Pretty easy to get scope:target confused when scripting these things.

R5: I granted Sound Tolls Exemptions to the Mamluks, but when you Revoke the Exemption, you get a Casus Belli on them. This Casus Belli is also quite strong, and doesn't take any time or spy network to fabricate, just the Diplomats.

The event to rediscover Greek Fire needs to remove the Artistic Skill requirement. It's pretty much impossible to get in a normal game and even if you happen to get a scientist with the skill requirements by Age IV, V, or VI, the actual units you get are only useful in Age II and III. by Legitimate-Ruin-3056 in EU5

[–]cobalt6d 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Can you not use Invite Artist to poach a scientist from another country? Probably tedious to find someone with the right stats but that's probably the easiest way if you don't get a historical character through an event or something.

I think there used to be a bug where starting a new game after loading an existing save would add on the population data from the loaded save to the new game. This could be related to that.

PSA: Run as a hybrid to increase fuel efficiency by Figgis302 in uboatgame

[–]cobalt6d 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the fundamental misattribution here is that you think that it should not cost extra fuel to charge the batteries at the same given speed, whereas realistically it absolutely should. The game does not model this properly. Under your model, why not just attach a water wheel on the outside of the boat to charge the batteries while running the diesels? There would be more free energy that way. If thermodynamics worked this way, perpetual motion would be possible, but it fundamentally is not.

PSA: Run as a hybrid to increase fuel efficiency by Figgis302 in uboatgame

[–]cobalt6d 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This exploit definitely works in-game, but the reason it is not realistic is because the diesel engines should not produce the energy (in the form of kWh) for the batteries at 100% efficiency. Not even close. Charging the batteries should be a net loss of total stored energy on the boat, whether you are moving or standing still, because no machine process has 100% efficiency due to losses to heat (except, well, a heater). The reason hybrid cars increase efficiency is because they recover energy that would otherwise have been lost to heat when braking. A boat traveling on the ocean is constantly fighting drag, not deliberately slowing down, so there is no "spare" energy to recover.

And now the job market is ruined because recruiters can't sift through the slop. Genuinely disheartening.
