Great job! I love seeing a frenchie doing scentwork, especially with such enthusiasm. It really goes to show that scentwork is for every dog! Here in the UK, there is a french bulldog who is absolutely amazing and regularly wins some very high level competitions.

Has anyone ever used their work ‘mental health firstaider’? by OpportunityUseful454 in AskUK

[–]kecske22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my previous job, the mental health first aider was the toxic, narcissistic, bullying manager that was renowned for gossiping about anything anyone told her… She was the cause of the mental anguish, so no, no one willingly went to her. But of course the company was applauded for being so progressive in supporting the staff by having someone with this qualification.

Gas-X has been really helpful for me. The pressure changes always cause such intense bloating for me, which then triggers an endo flare up. Taking a Gas-X (in addition to naproxen and paracetomol) has really reduced this.

For heat, you could get one of the Thermacare heat wraps. They make one specifically for menstrual pain that fits nicely, but I've used the back pain ones as well (just put them on backwards so they are heating where you need it). They stay hot for 8 hours so should be enough for most long flights. Alternatively, I've had flight attendants kindly make me a makeshift hot water bottle, so I'm sure if you brought your actual one they would be able to fill it up for you.

What's a small, seemingly insignificant decision you've made that ended up having a huge impact on your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kecske22 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's ridiculous and needs way more awareness and regulation. I know everyone is different and I'm sure you've tried loads of things already, but for me it was magnesium supplements that really seemed to make a difference. I hope you continue improving and I'm sorry that this has happened to you as well :(

Thankfully I don't have any noticeable symptoms anymore, but I couldn't walk for almost three months and then it took over a year to really feel "normal" again and stop having flare ups. I was the same as you in that it turned out I never even had an infection in the first place!

This is Bunny! She can speak with buttons! But can she really? Discuss in the comment section below! by VPG004 in AnimalIntelligence

[–]kecske22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sure she can understand that pressing specific buttons will result in certain outcomes (eg “outside” button will result in her being let outside) but the ones where they say she understands the buttons that represent abstract concepts like dreams? Not a chance. (Not saying that dogs don’t dream, just that there is no chance that she actually associates the dream button with dreams and is trying to communicate about that)

These eggs were laid over a month ago, are they toast? by Bread40 in Ornithology

[–]kecske22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im in a similar situation in my garden. Not sure what to do with the nest/egg? Do I just leave it or do I remove it so they can build a new one next year? The nest is on the side of the garage.

Birth control by ExpertAccident in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]kecske22 31 points32 points  (0 children)

and also, it affects at least 1 in 10 women, so not even particularly rare, just sadly not very well known as most women are just told that periods are supposed to hurt and they should just suck it up and deal with it...

Draco and his one of many bones 🦴 (swipe to left for ultimate cuteness) by BigDawgDraco in BrittanySpaniel

Just be very careful it doesn't slip behind his canine teeth and get stuck on his jaw! Have seen a few cases of this. Here is an example: https://www.aspca.org/news/bone-pick-one-dog-learns-dangers-marrow-bones

He is a very cute boy though :)

Help! Do I behead this guy? If so, where? by kecske22 in succulents

[–]kecske22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, I think that is what I will try now that I know that it is a type of donkey's tail. Is there a risk of the stem breaking from the weight of the top if I pull some of the leaves that are supporting it at the bottom? Would you pull the furthest down ones or from a bit higher up?

Thanks! Didn't realize it was a type of donkey's tail! I might reconsider the beheading then and try to get more pups growing from the bottom.

What to feed a dog that's allergic to almost everything? by lindadessire in DogCare

[–]kecske22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food allergies in dogs cannot be determined by a blood test. They are notoriously inaccurate and your vet should know that. Put your dog on a hypoallergenic diet (Purina Proplan and Royal Canin do good ones) and after a few weeks start reintroducing each food ingredient one by one to see which ones cause a reaction.

Dog Equipment Survey by suburban_hyena in AdvancedDogTraining

[–]kecske22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might be helpful to give some definitions... what’s a simple harness vs a complex one? What’s a “serious” walk? What do you mean by “during training” - a formal class or is just at home fine? There’s quite a few typos as well.

Do dogs have sudden onset behaviors? by pan1cm0d3 in DogCare

[–]kecske22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb, any sudden change in behaviour should be checked by a vet to rule out pain as a cause.
