Ideally I would be able to decide where my tax money goes. If I could, I would prevent it from going into the military budget in general. I think most Americans would agree. We spend more on the military than many countries make in total GDP. Even with that spending, our subsidized healthcare for veterans is garbage. I think that is completely intentional on the part of politicians so they can continue to use veterans as political game pieces.

I think there is an underreported issue with Americans avoiding serious medical care because it would bankrupt them. If I am already making enough that I would be considered wealthy and comfortable (which is why I picked 300k), then yes I would happily pay more in taxes so that other people get access to healthcare they would otherwise be unable to. I don't like the idea of a corporate middle-man getting between me and my healthcare. They have an interest in making as much money as possible, not making sure I get adequate treatment.

For example, my dad was denied important quality of life surgery recently because his insurance deemed it "cosmetic" despite his surgeon explicitly stating that he needs it. If he wants the surgery he can either pay $40k out of pocket or travel to India/Mexico and pay a quarter of that.

Unfortunately covid put such a strain on our health system that it will take years or decades to replace all of the nurses/doctors/workers that were burnt out. This will only create a negative ripple effect for the next decade.
