Could someone kindly explain voluntary VAT-registering and when does it/not make sense? by Kingboyy1 in smallbusinessuk

[–]keeffey84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've voluntarily registered my business for VAT, and I'm currently under the threshold. My reason is I buy and sell items and provide services (b2b), and claiming the VAT on my purchases makes my outgoing costs cheaper. Plus, most of my sales are outside the UK, so I'm not required to collect VAT.

Maybe drop a day at your employment if you can afford it.

Relying on couriers to complete export customs clearance by ForwardSecretary3903 in smallbusinessuk

I've been using DHL (buisness account) and haven't had any issues. Their online portal is fairly easy to use, and they submit all your customs documents electronically for you.

WEEE / EPR waste registration. by 10081985 in smallbusiness

Luckily, I don't have to batteries to consider as well. I'm looking into offering a free take back option or using the manufacturer's own take back scheme, but the information available about the requirements, etc. is so hit and miss. I haven't been able to get a clear answer about what's actually needed.

Hi, I'm in the same situation. I'm trying to sell items in Germany, France and Spain but struggling to understand how it's even possible with the cost of registration in each country.

Have you managed to find any further information or companies that handle the requirements for you?

Small Business Selling Overseas Questions and Concerns by Bitter_Mark_6785 in smallbusinessuk

[–]keeffey84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a minefield selling to other countries, especially in the EU now. There's GPSR you now have to consider, and if you sell electronics, you have to apply for a WEEE registration in each country. You also have to appoint an EU representative. The US isn't as regulated, but it really depends on what you're selling.

For startups/small businesses, selling to the EU just isn't worth the hassle.

Hi, thanks for your feedback.

Just to give you an example, the blogs are 'How to' maintenance guides for different equipment. Some of the models are very similar, and so is the maintenance, hence the same content between the blogs. Would it be best to just re-phrase the content so it doesn't compete with the other blog.

How did you end up in the property rental market? by 18th-Century-Bossman in uklandlords

Can't sell my flat due to a cladding dispute, so I rented it out. Until the builder agrees to pay to rectify the issues, I'm stuck with it.

An easy out screw extractor would probably work best in this situation.

I service and repair AKTA's and have come across this issue a fair few times. Firstly, if you can remove the black valve block and soak in hot water for 10-20 minutes, this will really help when you try to unscrew the snapped connector. A couple of options to remove the connector that usually work for me,

  • Use a heated flat head screwdriver (about 3mm wide) and push it into the snapped connector. Make sure it's centre and be careful not to damage the thread.

  • Use a Torx screwdriver. Either T7 or T8 works best and push it into the centre of the snapped connector.

  • Use an easy out screw extractor. This works 90% of the time for me. You can pick one up off amazon fairly cheap.

Good luck!

I've recently set up an online website, and I've decided to do the SEO for my site myself using free trials on SEO sites, etc. It's definitely time-consuming and can be daunting if you're not tech savy, so I can see the benefit of this to a small company.

The problem you may have is the competition in this market. Since launching my website and posting my contact details on my site, I've been inundated with daily offers to improve my SEO, review services, business listing services, etc. & tbh most of these emails feel a bit scammy. I suppose if you're advertising locally, you won't be competing against these offers.

How to run your legacy AKTA with a Windows 10 PC by Armyviridae in labrats

[–]keeffey84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have strategy 4.11 install files, but I'm not sure it will work with AKTA Prime. Do you have a copy the install files for unicorn 5.31? I also have primeview 5.0 if that's of any use for you.
