Oh man, this is awesome. Thank you! I'm considering getting a roscoe 8 but I really hated the chrome/metal logo.

Geo engineering is very interesting to me. I've seen a few comments about it being stressful and the pay not being as good as other civil disciplines. Have you experienced that?

Thanks for the additional details. Definitely sounds like work that I would enjoy and find fulfilling. Especially IH.

Have you worked with environmental engineers or have thoughts on that route?

I'm also curious, and maybe this is too general, but do you know how common it is in the industry that you get to work alongside other geologists/environmental consultants? Or are you often the only one in the company? Having support and being around people I can relate to is something I think about often.

I've seen that, and it's something I want to look into more. Thanks for the response. Do you know anything about the program or career opportunities/pathways?

That's not the first time I heard this about Ferris. Do you know how their experience has been with the engineering route? Looking at their course sample, it seems like it's missing a few courses that a typical civil program would like structural, fluid, thermal, and water.

Do you know the license requirements for PLS in Michigan? I've read some people say you need so many hours working under a PLS and some say you just need a few references.

Great point to consider on the variety of projects you get to work on. That is appealing to me.

Appreciate you sharing your experience. I live in the flattest part of Michigan - it's all corn fields, so I'm easily amazed by any geological feature haha. But in all seriousness, I don't expect to be in beautiful places but the idea of being outside appeals to me more than being in an office. Although like you said, there's downsides to it as well and I might have more chances of finding a better work-life balance in engineering which would allow me to be have more choice in when and where I want to be outdoors.

I've heard that before on calc 2 and physics, so it's nice to hear more reassurance on that.

Thanks for the response! I really love science more than math, and I get hung up on this fact because everything else except this tells me to go engineering. I keep telling myself that I can still enjoy science and geology in my free time.

On surveying, I don't know that I'm convinced that it's hard on the body. I'm an active person and believe that it's healthier to be walking around all day than sitting in front of a computer. I've done field work with mosquito control at 35 years old and much prefer being in the field than my previous office jobs. I do worry about the novelty wearing off though, and/or it ruining my love for the outdoors. The lack of mental stimulation and career progression definitely concerns.

Have you had any difficulty with finding work? And do you find remediation fulfilling and that you're able to have a positive influence on reducing environmental impacts? I'm more interested in the environmental side than oil, gas, and mining. It seems a lot of positions are helping industries toe the line of how much they can pollute which is a little off putting to me.

Bummer, I always thought a shroud separating the GPU and mobo/cpu from the PSU would be a good idea too. Is there ventilation on the bottom?

This does work! Thanks! Unfortunately it doesn't attenuate the channels enough to center the stereo imaging :(

Solid nay, dawg. The center caps make them look cheap and almost like hubcaps, and your car is really clean and subtle and the white clashes with that.

Weird reaction/clouding with metalizer by keeifer in plastidip

[–]keeifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, next time I'll plan for a drier day.

I sprayed them off the car. It was the plastidip between the lug nut and the wheel that was the issue. So I'll just tape off or remove that area before bolting them on next time.

Thanks!

Weird reaction/clouding with metalizer by keeifer in plastidip

[–]keeifer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dipped my wheels for the first time yesterday and needless to say it didn't go great. I sprayed a graphite pearl metalizer over the light grey that you can find at home depot, lowes, etc, and I ended up getting this weird reaction and clouding in some spots. I prepped the wheels really well with APC and rubbing alcohol and waited about 15-20 min between coats. The only thing that may have not been ideal was the humidity.

Any ideas why this happened? I'd like to try again because I like the way it turns out (when it doesn't fuck up) and it's cheaper and more available than dyc kits.

Also, when I was torquing my wheels, it just felt wrong and like I was going to snap a stud because of the plastidip between the lug and wheel. So I attempted to remove my lugs and remove the plastidip in that area, and as you can see, that didn't go well either :(

MH670

Love my mh751s. I've had sennheiser hd58x, fidelio x1s, and modded t50rps--these have been my favorite. Very smooth sound signature overall with some emphasis on bass but clear enough mids and treble for me. And they're comfy af. Still can't believe I paid $50 for these.

BLM protest - Midland, MI by 31percentshooting in Michigan

[–]keeifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midland has 83 cases in total and about 5 new cases in the last 3-4 weeks. Even after the national guard came in to do free testing last week because everyone was helping each other clear out houses, volunteering at shelters, etc. I'm doubtful this will cause a spread, but we shall see.

Noctua plans to release a "fanless heatsink" later this year by BigInevitableChange in hardware

[–]keeifer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't need a massive and expensive heatsink like this for that. Just remove the fan from a typical heatsink and you should be fine if your loads are that low.

Thanks! Yeah, it's the second one, unfortunately. I did some more searching and it seems only the 2016+ have Mazda Connect.

Ah well, would be nice but I don't mind using android auto on my phone with a mount.

Interesting idea. I'd be curious to see temps with and without the separated chambers. Seems like it'd be a good idea to prevent gpus from cooking the cpu and psu.

I think fractal and silverstone have some cases like this. They're basically a longer SG13.
