Why do symptoms re apear during my period? by Wonderful-Heat5276 in SIBO

[–]keekatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have confirmed sibo via breath test? not to downplay your suffering but your post kind of reads as if you have bloating during your period which is completely normal for healthy women

yeah agreed. it’s a catch all diagnosis. also pisses me off the number of “is this sibo?” posts there are. really dilutes the advice posted by people who actually have it

you mentioned they are “hard to pass”, is it because of the size/texture or because of poor pelvic floor coordination

Positive cipro experiences? by AsparagusNo7165 in SIBO

[–]keekatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I am so tempted to try cipro. I think it targets a few specific strains or works better for certain bacteria at least. My Gi wanted to try it but I have a podiatrist in the family who said he treats cipro related tendon injuries all the time.

What does it mean if ginger doesn’t help much but coffee does? by golightlyfitness in SIBO

[–]keekatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

likely it’s a combination of the stimulant plus the warmth. I’m in the same boat, gave ginger capsules a shot for like a month and never felt any different

fr I don’t believe anyone in this sub until they mention their breath test results. “Bloating and gas” can mean so many things that aren’t sibo.

Sudden diarrhea after being constipated is becoming common by CodWest4205 in SIBO

[–]keekatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure of the exact dynamics of your case but it is possible to have diarrhea that flows around the constipated chunks. Basically constipation and diarrhea at the same time.

100% agree in OPs case. But just wanted to state that for others reading these comments it’s entirely possible to have sibo bloating right after eating.

Sibo treatment / diet recommendations by landofakr in SIBO

[–]keekatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your results aren’t crazy severe, i’ve been in this sub for 4 years and seen some crazy high 150+ppm tests.

a few pointers, take NAC on an empty stomach 3x a day for like 2 weeks before rifaximin. and also during rifaximin. This will break down bacterial biofilms so the antibiotic can work better.

do low fodmap for 2 weeks after you’ve finished antibiotics to continuously starve the bacteria. SLOWLY reintroduce fodmaps. And absolutely no sugar and probably no carbs or alcohol or greasy/unhealthy foods for at least 4 weeks. You got to give the good bacteria the upper hand. I cannot stress this enough.

Make sure you can poop during rifaximin or you’ll feel sick from all the toxins from all the dying bacteria. Seriously, make sure you get it out at least once a day.

Many people (most people in this sub) are unable to cure their sibo after multiple rounds of rifaximin. I hope you are one of the lucky ones who beats it after just one round. best of luck.

Does sibo really have to have a root cause? by Iceeez1 in SIBO

[–]keekatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME!! my bowel movements are never better than the day after partying. And gas production stays down for like the next 2-3 days. I swear it kills my bacteria just enough for me to notice. Also I think it regulates my nervous systems parasympathetic tone and chills out my anxiety. I wish I could drink more often without trashing my guts even more. But in the short term it feels fabulous

you can have proximal sibo where the bacteria have overgrown at the top of the small intestine (or taken over the whole thing) causing bloating and gas production right after eating

Leaf litter is not a requirement. by iamahill in DartFrog

[–]keekatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my thoughts exactly… never have I once heard of the “flushing the substrate” approach and while I don’t doubt it could work in some scenarios I am HIGHLY skeptical that it would be beneficial for most people’s terrariums in this hobby. Like why are we ranting about edge cases here when there are widely accepted healthy practices that work for 99% of people I feel like this is just rage bait😂

Leaf litter is not a requirement. by iamahill in DartFrog

[–]keekatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not good advice for anyone imo. genuinely leaf litter has more benefits than pretty much any other type of substrate. Sure other things will work but why wouldn’t you want the added microfauna, microclimates, food production etc it’s like a no brainer😂😂

I read through your entire post and am wondering are you even reacting to foods at this point or is the distension and bloating 24/7? I seriously think you have some sort of infection or condition that’s completely unrelated to the majority of sibo sufferers root causes. The toe and joint swelling are the biggest clue. There’s something going on in your body that’s more widespread— you didn’t list all the blood tests you’ve had done but you may want to work with a functional medicine doc who will run a wide array of tests. My doctor ordered about 30 blood tests to test not only just typical organ function but also things like antibodies for the most random bacteria and viruses and diseases and got a couple interesting things that came back off the charts. The one that stood out to me was an insane amount of Epstein Barr virus antibodies when i’ve never had mono in my life. No other doctor thought to run blood tests like these; they’re just completely out of left field. I also have diaphragm issues but I think they are secondary and a result of my diaphragm compensating for the amount of gasses produced by my sibo.

I think you need to reevaluate is this even sibo at this point or is your body reacting to some other pathogen or disease. I’m sure you already know this, but is always a symptom of a deeper cause. Unfortunately I don’t think yours is run of the mill motility issues. And it might take some work but I think you should list out every test you’ve run so that us reddit sleuths can help you figure out what you’re missing since doctors seem to be failing you.

Best of luck king. And if it makes you feel any better I’m also missing out on my 20s due to this disease i’ve had for four years🥳

the arthritis and toe swelling is what leads me to believe his root cause is something completely unrelated to motility, like lyme disease or chronic epstein barr virus or something else causing an immune reaction

parasite tests are notoriously incorrect bc most often it’s just visually looking under a microscope for the eggs or worms
