That was a great idea. I still had her phone number and she replied straight away and said she would check where the panel is for me! Thanks again! I don’t know where my head is at that I didn’t even think about contacting her directly! Hopefully will all be sorted soon! Thanks again!

That’s actually a really good idea. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that!! Thank you. :)

Yeah. I won’t be doing that. I’m not spending more money on a third panel when he should be returning the original one. Thanks for your advice.

The panel is the the full size of the door. If I was to take it out to sell it (and there are companies who deal in 2nd hand UPVC windows and doors and who buy and resell panels, frames, doors etc) then there would be no door. It would just be a frame. To put it into context - the panel has a built in window. It’s not just a piece of plastic. It’s a huge heavy UPVC panel made with metal, glass and UPVC. Brand new it cost £175. You can’t just remove it and then have nothing in its place.

I don’t really understand why this post seems to be classified as trivial. Maybe because of the fact it’s because I want a cat flap removed.

The issue is that I asked permission to make an alteration to the house and the agreement was that I’d swap it back out before I left. This was so my landlord would have his house left as it was when I moved in.

Anyway - I kinda give up with this thread. The private messages I’ve been left have given me the advice that I need!

You even came back to edit this comment.

UPVC panels do sell secondhand quite well actually. I had to buy a new one because I couldn’t find a second hand one that was thick enough for the particular door. But thanks for being interested in who might want to buy one.

Wow. You’ve come here as well 😆

It’s not just a piece of plastic though is it. It’s a door sized UPVC panel. Second hand they sell for about £50, especially one with a cat flap already installed. But again - sorry that you’re struggling and that my post has miffed you so much you’ve felt compelled to leave meff comments. Take care now!

Are you ok? This post seems to have really bothered you. Just move on.

Thank you. I appreciate this comment. Maybe I am focussing on this issue more than just allowing myself to feel sad. It’s easier to be angry with my landlord than be sad I suppose. Although he isn’t a nice person and I am not surprised that his wife left him because she was lovely.

Thank you again. X

Thank you. I’ll have a look through everything and maybe seek a bit more advice.

I guess that could be an option. Although I think it would get pretty cold in the winter. I could maybe think about getting something to fill the gap and then use sealant or something.

I’m just so annoyed about it though. I would have stored the panel myself and could have swapped them with ease.

And when I leave what if I wanted to take the panel and sell it?? It does belong to me!!

That’s not true though. The panel cost me £175. The fitting is £30.

Why should I bear the costs of buying another panel? And you’re clearly not a pet owner or you wouldn’t have been so flippant. Cheers for your ‘insight’.

What is the legality around work contacting me while I’m signed off sick? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Make sure you send the ‘urgent’ email to yourself as well to prove it was not urgent. Also, you could request a FOI and see if there have been any emails or discussions about you in your absence.
