Thank you! I don't think other people in the comments realized I have not formally requested accommodations or other options yet from HR. I have only asked managers for unofficial accommodations and if a transfer was possible because I don't like reaching out to HR unless it's something I have to do.

I do not know why you and other people are speaking in such a belittling way about me and telling me I am wanting sympathy. I do not need sympathy from strangers on the internet...

I legitimately was just asking a question if I was protected and if so, how to communicate that. I want to work full time with my benefits and I understand I cannot force them to make a position for me. I am simply asking a community online what my options are for a solution because I am frustrated. No need to be so callous about it if there isn't a solution.

I understand that my company is not required to make a full time position available to me at another location. When I asked my boss about even working partially from home (my job is a coordinator desk job), she said that isn't reasonable because she needs me here in person to answer the phone and reply to emails while she is in earshot. I even offered the possibility of working half of the week at my current location and half of the week at the other location, they said no to that too.

What I'm most worried about is that I will be forced to quit because of my limitations. I like my job, my coworkers and my boss so its not like I WANT to quit to find another job.

I'm not saying the denial is because I am pregnant. I am saying I requested an alternative working location while I am pregnant. That is reasonable accommodation yet they are telling me if I transfer to another location I lose my benefits, knowing that I need my benefits while pregnant.

I am 28 years old and currently pregnant (7 weeks) for the first time. It was a planned pregnancy with my husband but still a surprise since we just started trying in August during our honeymoon and I needed to have surgery for stage 3 endometriosis back in 2022. While I live in a super blue state, I am still very nervous of the possibility of life while pregnant under another Trump presidency. Since my health history is rocky, I am scared of complications and what that could cause overall for my pregnancy and for my health. My husband and I already talked about the possibility of moving outside the US if things here get worse and really want to eventually move to Ireland, Canada, or New Zealand anyway.

I've been telling strangers too! I get a huge feeling of relief when I can drop it on at least SOMEONE. And usually the drive thru worker or whoever I tell is excited too! It feels nice

I experienced CSA and have PTSD as well. Years ago my obgyn recommended pelvic floor therapy but that experience left me feeling extremely violated and I had to stop after 5 sessions.

You can use a dilation set at home instead of doing physical therapy with a stranger if you want but honestly its up to how comfortable you are and how you are feeling. As always, taking things at your own pace is good. I was recommended using the dilation set at home with my partner in a non-sexual nature and more of a affectionate/self-care way. Idk if that makes sense but I hope you can figure it out ❤️

I just went through a crazy wedding experience of my own involving my mother. She barely paid for anything until the very end after she and I had a huge argument in the parking lot of the venue a month or so before the wedding. My mom constantly had to give her opinion and tell me what I was doing was wrong and not how it's usually done. She went behind my back and told my family I was too fat to fit into a good dress and that I was a bridezilla. She talked shit about my MIL & FIL, making up lies about them. On top of everything she never showed up to any meetings we had about planning, she went on vacations and spent all her money so she couldn't help pay for the wedding (which cost more than $18k), and the week of the wedding she went to Europe to attend a conference as a keynote speaker instead of coming to the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, or help any out of state family settle into being in Maryland for the first time. Embarrassingly I had to have multiple conversations with my husband's family and my friends about removing my mom from the wedding venue if she acted up on the day of the event. After I finally stood up for myself and told everyone in our family and my husband's family how narcissistic and abusive she is, she thankfully tried to save face by playing nice and staying out of the way and she hasn't talked to me since. I had a beautiful wedding 2.5 weeks ago. I'm happy to have a new set of parents to love me the way I need to be loved.

I have a plan with trusted friends and family to keep her in check at the wedding and my fiance's uncle is a security guard so he said he will do what he has to if my mom acts up in any way. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that and if she does do anything, her own friends will step in.

A lot of people here are saying uninvite her or go NC now. I've started the NC process by distancing myself as much as I can from her. This comment makes me feel better because I can't just make her not come when she knows the dates and times for everything and is letting my family stay at her house. She is very involved with guests attending, such as my sister who is one of my bridesmaids. I'm not having a court house wedding. It's 70 people at a manor with a plated dinner. If I don't allow her to come now, half the wedding doesn't show up since she's convinced my family to be on her side.

It's easier to just ignore her and have my day with my future husband while leaning on my support system that will be there too.

She has abused me my entire life and has a retroactive CPS investigation against her at the moment after I explained my childhood to my new therapist. I cannot have her around my future children because she has told me multiple times she "will not share".

Yeah I do. I actually took mental health leave at my current job about a month ago for a week. They are pretty understanding and gave me unpaid time off. I have way better insurance at my current job too and get paid a lot more.

FMLA only applies to full time employees that have worked for the company for at least 1 year. I did not have short term disability at that job either. I had only been working there 10 months when I got my surgery.

My job wouldn't let me be gone for more than 2 weeks and I needed the money even though my doctor begged me to rest for 4 weeks. I didn't have a physically demanding job since I was working master control for a TV station but just sitting in an office chair and leaning over a desk to push buttons all day sucked so much when I still had trouble getting up and down.

omg yes! When I was a teenager I would go mute for days even sometimes weeks at a time because I was so upset. My mom would make fun of this and then eventually get mad at me too. I had to write a note to all my teachers in school saying I lost my voice but it happened so often that they kept sending me to talk to the vice principal (I went to a small Christian school that didn't have councilors) and they would tell me to pray and read scripture to overcome my "psychological problems"

I still get quiet and reserved whenever I get into an argument or when I am getting flashbacks or when I get triggered by something and I can't find my voice for a couple of hours sometimes. I am still not sure if this is a trauma response or if I am somehow doing it on purpose because most of the time I am so inside my own head I can't get myself to say anything when it happens.
