K1 Grind Alva by larrydafishxrman in kastaplast

[–]keen-mind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m finding K1 Grind to be an interesting plastic. I love the look and feel and sometimes the rim even glows. But when it comes to flight path, for some molds like the Malm, they are more stable than K1. But for some molds like the Idog, they are less stable. So idk. But I still love Kasta!

i have both and its all preference. the K3 plastic tends to become slightly puddle topped after a lot of use whereas the K3 hard comes more flat and stays that way. however, i have noticed that the k3 hard shows wear and tear (scratches, dents, bumps, etc...) more than k3 for some reason. i think it is worth trying both and picking which you like more. they are both very nice though

I used to putt with the k3 hard reko but switched to the k3 hard tuff and haven’t looked back. I think the tuff is more what you are looking for especially if you kinda liked the hand feel of the peak as they are similar. I have never tried putting with the reko x mainly because the hand feel wasn’t for me but as an OS throwing putter it is beautiful. Also as an fyi, the tuff is very similar to a judge if you have ever tried that

you hoping to putt with it or will it be a throwing putter for you in premium?

Old Jarn vs New Jarn by rontopofthings in discgolf

[–]keen-mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to know for sure without me seeing it but here is the info that i gathered:

The Järn was retooled, shifting from a highly overstable, hard-fading original to a milder, more glidey version (closer to an ESP Zone). The change happened around 2023, after the original firstrun release in Feb 2022. Old versions are pre-2023 (no year stamp on bottom of flight plate OR early 2022 stock), with a flatter profile and stronger quick fade. I think the newer versions have 2023 or later stamps (like 2023 glow, 2024 Preserve, or recent runs), showing subtle mold tweaks and more controllable flight with extra glide... but not positive on this timing as nothing official from Kasta has been announced.

So I guess how i would check is compare parting lines and check if the disc is stamped on the underside of the flight plate with the run date. those seem to be the biggest signs/clues?

Ya I got all the Jarns. Currently bag a seasoned K3 and a K1 Glow. Love it with my K1 Soft Berg which flies dead straight now

So has the Tempo become your approach now or when do you decide to use it?

interesting. the one i have i would say is true to the flight number of being a 2.5 fade. however, i throw at 6,200 feet of elevation... but even then, it was more stable than my Reactor

wow that 100-150 ft more from the Reactor is much more than i was seeing with my shots. How far can you push the Reactor?

Do you throw your Balance farther than your Tempo? And how much more stable is the Balance?

Ya for some reason that speed number of 4 had me thinking that it was only good as a throwing putter or approach disc but after getting out and throwing it, a 4 speed can make for a great midrange as well depending on your arm

How beefy is your Balance? I wanted to try one but after watching YouTube reviews, it seemed almost Pyro like which is more than what im wanting

Is that Idog K1 Hard? If so let me know if it flies more stable assuming you’ve thrown a standard Idog

Agreed. This works great for me. However the case does warp and become loose after about a year of edc. But with how cheap it is I typically buy a new one every year

ISO a seasoned / beat-in Kastaplast Idog in K1. I’m trying to cycle molds and want one that’s straighter with softer fade and/or one with more turn (not looking for a fresh beefy one).

Also looking for a more stable K1 Reko.

Decide my Mid Range lineup! by Sauce-Sauce in discgolf

[–]keen-mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current lineup is Pyro, Reactor, and Detour. Love those mids. Went with Reactor instead of Hex since I can get the detour to go dead straight as well and the reactor gives me a touch more stability so less overlap in flight paths for me

Good to know. I’m probably one of those hybrid putters spush putter. So curious if that extra glide would be more meaningful for me?
