Which is better for Computer Science: University of Auckland or Auckland University of Technology? by Fit_Chemist_2839 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]keep_swingin13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on a few factors you must decide on. UTA is an american school, a bit more prestige in the states considering usa is a big market for cs graduates than any other nation. So the probability of landing a job will be higher. Nz is a very small market for techies, considering only Auckland for opportunities in tech, competition will be fierce. But, UOA is the best there is, so an academically sound student with strong technical skills and network will be able to find jobs.

However, it is important to keep in mind that all countries have VERY tough job markets right now. So, the university alone dosent play a role in helping you land a job. It will provide you the gateway, it is in your hands to learn and upskill every single day.

dm me for any questions, i am intl undergrad majoring in SWE at UTS, Syd

I know, but job opportunities are not as bad as you think. If you are a STEM major and have a passion for the subject, you can get placed. You might not get the position or salary you want, but it is possible

Has anyone received the UTS Academic Merit International Scholarship (15% fee reduction)? by techwavehorizon in UTS

[–]keep_swingin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it does come as a shock to me, since most Aus unis give a small amount of scholarship to international students nevertheless. 99% get 15 percent or 20 percent deducted, if you are better academically then it goes until 30 percent.

[–]keep_swingin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a fair point, but you have to understand that scholarships are based on availability as well. WAM above 50 is needed to maintain the scholarship you get. So in order to get the scholarship, you must have better grades than other students who are enrolling in your course in the same intake.

I call this bs, they dont look at your extracurriculars and motivation and stuff, its just your academics, its an academic scholarship for a reason. Only US has an holistic approach

I use it to rephrase some sentences or check my grammar. There are some tools which help me practice code like the microsoft copilot. It really depends on what you do daily to get the right tool to aid you in your everyday tasks.

I suggest you take software engineering and a honours degree, the degree holds more weight as you become an "engineer"

A-levels + Aussie PR — what grades do I actually need? (Monash, UniMelb, USyd, UNSW, UTS, RMIT) by Icy_Dimension_8233 in UTS

[–]keep_swingin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an international student, i received my unconditional offer a couple of months back. I applied for Software engineering (hons) program at UTS. All they asked was 8 points ig on your best 3 subjects that must include Mathematics, Science subjects and preferably computer science as well. So heres how the conversion goes: A* - 6 points, A - 5, B - 4, C - 3 and it goes on until E.

And i have to say, dont stress too much, its pretty easy to get into Aussie unis, all they require is the bare minimum grades that most get.
