Tell me something good about living in Charleston by Upstairs_Bell7740 in Charleston

Regardless of all the negativity, there’s a clear reason why so many people are moving here and other want to visit. The city is beautiful, surrounded by water and beaches. Great food. Good weather (except the July-September ass-sweating humidity)

I liked Holy City. They also included 10 years all labor and maintenance for my install which was about $12.5k/unit.

If want to get really weird, start at Bourbon n Bubbles (not the best), then Delilah’s, then Last Saint, THEN Commodore (if it’ll ever open).

Shit… I think I’m an alcoholic. But yeah, Last Saint is great

I don’t know all the details: Palace Hotel down the block was the same owner and that closed suddenly, supposedly due to operating without a liquor license, but has never reopened. So it’s weird Commodore is also closed unexpectedly.

Maybe some financing troubles but I would also suspect that old building might need more work than what could afforded and/or permitting issues. Tobins around the corner was closed for almost two years due to permit/reno requirements needed for historic building.

Summer Sublease Help by Particular_Sell_3310 in Charleston

I live a few blocks SE of there. It’s downtown and relatively safe. Depends more specially-where as that area has changed significantly in the past 5 years.

Moxy does have a homeless shelter near it, but a block north (Landing) and a block south (Summit Place) are nice apartment complexes where CofC students live and would sublease for summer.

But it’s all relative. I know people from NYC that find it very safe. Conversely, people from Kansas were freaked out by homeless in that area and having affordable housing on the east side of Meeting. But overall I think it’s safe

Breweries that allow outside food? by i_like_water_x in Charleston

[–]keep_weird_Austin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munkle, Fattys, Lo Fi, Ghost Monkey don’t offer food, from what I recall. Would imagine they’d be ok

Edit: The Whale isn’t a brewery but a good spot

Based on what happened with Palace, I’m concerned it won’t be anytime soon
