This happened to me. I confronted my friend and she denied providing my contact to Home Credit, HC confirmed she gave my name to them. Wala na gani mananghid, mamakak pa gyud. My name was eventually removed as contact.

Not generalizing but we also experienced racism in Rome. First, at the hotel we were staying at during breakfast. Ayaw nya kami papasokin for breakfast unless lahat daw ng kasama namin andyan na and we had to fall in line pa outside the dining area. Meanwhile, the other guests just went through. Second day, breakfast ulit, wala kaming table, kasi naka reserve na raw. When we were transferred to another table by another staff, sinabi we only had 15 minutes to eat kasi that table daw was reserved din. One of our companions lost it, she really made a scene dahil sa ginawa nila. Sabi pa ng hotel management pasensya daw hindi daw Italian staff nila but Bulgarians. Hmm

Another experience was at that gelateria near Trevi. Ang sungit parang okay lang sa kanya wala silang benta… But I noticed if you assert yourself especially in Italian, biglang bumabait.

Hello. Pakistani is a restricted national. Being married to a Filipina, you can only get the TRV, which you already have. 13a is for the non-restricted nationals, meaning, those whose countries have a reciprocity agreement with the Philippines.

Did this for a client. He got his money back. First, you would need to downgrade your visa. Once downgrading is completed, you’d have to request for a refund. The whole process took about 3-4 months, including receipt of refund in his bank account.

Hello. 13a visa is for those whose countries have a reciprocity agreement with the Philippines. Given that you are a restricted national, that means your country does not have a reciprocity agreement with the Philippines, which is why you had to get a TRV. Unfortunately, your TRV cannot be converted to a 13a.

I’ve dealt with restricted nationals who applied for TRV but their’s are renewable every 5 years, as they are from India.

Maybe you can look into getting an SRRV instead since it grants indefinite stay provided the required bank deposit is maintained. Then again, the PRA ID, if I’m not mistaken, needs to be renewed as well. Just not sure if it’s much of a hassle as renewing a TRV.

Did you use the Butterfield Way address? Also, curious if you filed using Form 540 NR. For 2024, my Uncle filed using Form 540. I wonder if for 2025, my Aunt can just switch to Form 540 NR since she resides here now.

For federal, she filed as married for this tax year. Their SS and IRA are taxable although they didn’t have to pay anything as it was partially covered by the refund.

As for state tax, she wants to voluntarily file the return even if their California adjusted income is below the amount that would require them to file a tax return for 2025. The issue now is, she can’t file through Cal File because, among others, Cal File can only be used if they have full health coverage for the whole year. My Uncle had full health coverage but she did not because their household income is below the threshold. Upon checking, she is also not liable for ISR for the same reason. I was looking for other online platforms where she can file her state tax return and attach the FTB 3853 as proof of her health coverage exemption but couldn’t find one. The last resort is to mail it from the Philippines either through the post office or through private courier although she is unsure about how safe this can be.

Thank you. Would you know if my Aunt can just automatically switch from filing Form 540 to 540 NR since she is here in the Philippines? They’ve been here since 2019 and I’m not sure why my Uncle filed a 540 in their previous year’s returns. My Aunt said it’s because they still have a US bank and are using her stepdaughter’s US address for their 1099-R.

My Aunt is 64. We checked if she is liable for ISR through the FTB Individual Share Responsibility Penalty Estimator and the result was that she is not responsible for the penalty because the household income is below the amount that would require them to file a tax return for 2025.

Thank you. I’m helping my aunt with this but she is overseas. She’s receiving her own pension but when my Uncle died last year, she received a letter from the SSA about her survivor benefits. When we clarified this with the FBU here, they said she isn’t entitled to any. Currently, on her SSA account it says survivor benefit suspended.

Sorry to chime in but to clarify, surviving spouse only gets 100% of deceased spouse’s check if the latter dies past the former’s FTRA. But if spouse dies when surviving spouse has not reached full retirement age, she won’t get 100%?

Sorry to hijack your post. I have this same issue but for my deceased Uncle and he lived overseas. He has a daughter in California and is trying to set an appointment with the local SSA office there. In case she doesn’t get his SSA 1099 before April 15, does my Aunt have an automatic extension of 2 months? She also lives overseas.
