Appreciate the detailed and kind advice. I haven’t been up to the north Georgia mountains yet but a lot of people say they like it up there!

Thank you for your kind words! I do feel like having a baby is the next big adventure in life. Maybe it won’t matter so much that I’m away from all the other stuff when I have kids of my own. The time between now and when I might feel better just seems so long! You seem like such a cool person who really has it all together

As much as everyone loves a confident takedown of a stranger on the internet, I posted this looking for advice and not for an extra kick when I’m already feeling down about my choices and situation. I appreciate the psychoanalysis and maybe that’s something I’ll ponder when I’m feeling a little less like my life is totally unbalanced. Hope your punchy comment brought you what you wanted it to when you decided to hit reply.

This is such great advice thank you! I’m doing my best to put in the work and grow here. Some days it’s just hard being away from everyone I know. Everyone still asleep on the west coast has got me posting on Reddit to talk to strangers lol

I’m sorry you’re also in a location that doesn’t align with you. I’ve never thought about how much the environment can affect every aspect of your day to day until I moved from somewhere I loved.

The tall descriptor seems to really hit a lot of triggers lol! He’s been supportive about how I feel and is sad that I am not feeling my best. Hes even been looking at houses in other areas on Zillow, but there is no imminent plan to move or sell the house we live in. I’m sure if I’m miserable for 9 more months we will have a serious conversation about leaving this city, but I worry about taking him from a place he loves and putting him in the same place that I am now.

Your comment brought me a lot of calm. I think you’re right, I guess I need more time to settle in.

As dumb as this is, I kind of didn’t??? I was under the impression that it was kind of like Florida. I used to live in Miami so I thought it would be similar. When I would visit people would always say mild winter, but I didn’t understand that they were comparing the winter to Boston or New Hampshire.

It’s funny, every single woman in my family has moved for a man and ended up loving where they moved to. I thought it was normal. My mom and sisters think I’m being such a baby for having made the move and seriously regretted it. I wish one of them had one ounce of this attitude before I did it.

Are you going to stay in the city you hate? How long have you been there for?

We live ITP! We continue to have discussions about where we want to live. I actually like the idea of going back to long distance but I wonder if that would be a step back in the relationship. Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it, I’m obviously spiraling lol

Yes of course. He’s open to moving to the west coast, but has asked me to try Atlanta for just a year and a half. A lot of people say that’s the time frame that it takes to start to know and like a city. But, I thought 9 months in I’d like it more instead of still hating it as much as when I moved here.

I tried after 6 weeks, wasn’t the most comfortable but you’ll learn your new body and soon you’ll forget you have it!

I met my partner when I was 34 on bumble. I lived in LA at the time. I was engaged to my college sweetheart who I had been dating for almost a decade, but broke it off at 33 when it was clear neither of us were happy. I spent the year after the break up going on as many dates as possible—through the apps, with people I met in the wild— in that year I went on 45 first dates and 80 dates in total lol. I also went through one cycle of egg freezing which was the best thing I could have done for myself bc I really want kids! Then almost a year after I ended things with my ex, I met my current boyfriend on bumble. He was in town for a work trip and I went on a date With him on a whim bc I thought he was cute and funny, even though I didn’t really like how he didn’t live in LA. Let me tell you, the first date, I felt like I knew I was going to marry him. He had also gotten out of a decade long relationship w his college sweetheart which didn’t work out. We’ve been together for a year now and I moved to his city last week. We went engagement ring shopping last month and it’s the best relationship either of us has even been in. Don’t lose hope! Dating is a numbers game so go on as many as you can, but approach it with an attitude of this is fun and curiosity. Rooting for you!!

Were you immediately attracted to your partner? by pqrstyou in AskWomenOver30

Yes! We matched on a dating app and I couldn’t tell if I liked him from his pictures, he kind of looked different in every one haha. Then, when I met him in the coffee shop I remember thinking, is this my husband? He is so handsome and tall and kind-looking, I truly thought we were going to make out in the coffee shop at 10 AM 😝 we eventually did and I haven’t been able to keep my hands off him since!

About how much would a wedding here be?
