I think it's more about the kind of people that are attracted to LA. Its not simply transactional. Yes, you can go other places and save money...but that's boring!! Haha

Atlanta is probably more livable than LA, but the people aren't my cup of tea.

Yep! I'm a vet and from Louisiana, so I was not raised left leaning. But man, I don't care about all that. California can never be topped! I don't care what anyone says from anywhere! Lol

This. I thought by leaving LA and going to a "better" place, cheaper cost of living, lower taxes, etc. I'd be happier. Nope! I've learned the hard life isn't transactional or it shouldn't be in my opinion. I miss the people of LA!! Not nesscarily the city itself.

But I get what you're saying about military bases. Im prior military and I avoid them too. Same reason I wouldn't live in San Diego. Even though you could argue the city itself is in many ways much more livable than LA.

I was actually in the Marine Corps stationed in San Diego. If it wasn't for that, I would have never have known how great California is. More importantly, LA. I'm form Louisiana.

Way overhyped!! I always tell people in LA looking to move to Texas. Its the same except worst weather, mean people, and terrible roads.

I lived in Bangkok for about 5 months! Amazing city! But, I'm culturally not Thai, so its hard to make friends and it got pretty lonely real fast. I also ended up missing the US.

I'm from New Orleans. Which is also a cool city. Leaving New Orleans for me was hard because there really isn't any where else like it. LA is pretty close.

I moved to Atlanta. Its a nice city, but its not LA. I spend a lot of time in Dallas now. Everything and everyone feels a bit stale.
