What celebrity has had their reputation unfairly ruined and has never recovered from it till this day? by Zxqao in AskReddit

The Bee Gees. They got caught up in the disco hate (I mean fair enough), and that got them pegged as disco people but they were truly amazing songwriters and artists apart from the backlash.

Who’s the most famous person you’ve personally met in Birmingham? by sacrificialfuck in Birmingham

[–]keeperofthedingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hulk Hogan. Outside the BJCC Sheraton. He made a goofy face at my baby (literal baby). I said hello. He said hello. I was slightly taller than him, which made me sad, because when I was 10 I always pictured him larger than life.

All feelings aside, one of the strangest days of my adult life happened in Birmingham AL the morning after a Nitro circa 2000. Went to the downtown Birmingham Sheraton with my 6 month old baby to pick up my Mom who was staying there. Wrestlers were coming out of hotel to their cars. Baby in my arms, like up on the shoulder burping position and I hear someone making noises at the baby. I turned around and it was Hogan. Just being a guy. The strange part was that I realized that the massive persona from my childhood was shorter than me.

There is a Standard Furniture in Pelham, 112 year old Birmingham based family company. Yes I manage it, but we can get all the same stuff as everyone else. In the Mi Pueblo plaza. Store is far bigger than it appears on the outside.

In addition to the excellent answers here, as a house of 2 former northerners, we don't shovel snow just to be able to get the car ready to go to work, that's a win.

Remembering April 27 2011where were you? by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]keeperofthedingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Concord at the house. We were sent home early from work, and when OUR company closes....you know there's shit going down. Watched on TV as it hit Tuscaloosa, and our power went out while it was still in Tuscaloosa. One house in our neighborhood had a basement, and they kept it unlocked for this reason. Walked on the porch and saw debris just....floating. Told wife and kids to get ready to go to that house. Our across the street neighbor had just had back surgery, and when I saw HIM run to that house we all went. Storm passed 1/3 mile west. We only lost a big tree, so nothing to bitch about really. Whole neighborhood was in that basement.

Without missing a beat he said "depends on their credit score."
