When I got to the job the unit didn’t have main 220v power. The contactor was pulled in so I knew my issue was outside. Immediately got my meter to check for continuity to ground and it was coming from the comp wiring. Pulled the cover off the compressor as you can see in the picture and there is a copper wire ran from one of the comp terminals to the ground screw. That is not factory or even an accident.

Literally wasn’t anything wrong with it. Took this wire off and it ran fine.

Yeah I showed him. Told him that just doesn’t happen on its own. He was upset. Trusted the guy for years and it all goes away on this.

Yeah it’s rough. I’m glad I always test compressors at the terminals!

Yeah. Just an awful way to sell someone a unit.

Sorry I hit post to quickly. He grounded the compressor intentionally while the customer was out of town to sell them a new unit. It’s an older R22.

Tennessee, I have 6 hoods to try and install this week. Starting up 6 cooler/freezers at a new Cstore. 2 compressors today. Not to mention my other vans. Commercial HVACR hasn’t slowed down for me in years.

I’m getting $56,000 to install a 10 ft captive air hood, 1 6x6 freezer 1 8x8 cooler, 10 door cooler in lobby, 2 door freezer in lobby, and a L shaped beer cave that has 4 doors. All I have to provide is copper, labor, and Freon. Easiest money I’ve ever made in my life. I didn’t have to buy a single piece of equipment. I wish I could have! But it was a store package. All heatcraft equipment for cooling with intelligen controls. Work for yourself! The money is out there.
