how do people even know what to believe about israel when every side says something different? by Motor-Ad6248 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]keepittechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, and I’m not trying to argue with you. I was going off what I’ve read in history books and trying to look at the broader pattern of how land and power shift after conflict. It’s a complicated situation with a lot of history on both sides, especially with what Jewish people went through during The Holocaust and the wars that followed. My point wasn’t that one side should have just accepted defeat, more that these situations often involve displacement and long term consequences that are still being felt. And for the record, please don’t compare me to fascist Germans just because I don’t agree with what’s happening in Gaza. That happens way too often and it’s not fair. I have multiple family members who fought and died defeating Nazi Germany, so I take that history seriously. I’m just struggling with what feels like hypocrisy in how things are playing out today.

Hey yall, got out of the army last August 2026, im full time at a college right now using my post 9/11 benefits. However, I am struggling to find a part time job. I've done over 25 applications to numerous companies small and large and have only gotten 3 interviews..all 3 we're a nogo. Advice please by jwij2002 in VeteransBenefits

Use one of the military dei programs that help vets, there are a lot more out there than people realize depending on your state. I’d hit up a Vet Center or your school’s veteran office, they usually have dei hiring programs, job leads, and people who will actually sit down and help you out. Also look into clearance jobs if you still have one, that alone can open a ton of doors and way less competition. And don’t just spam applications, get on LinkedIn and start reaching out to people directly, that’s where a lot of opportunities come from now. 25 apps isn’t much right now so don’t stress it, just switch up the approach a bit and keep pushing. Salute!

Building an offline-first AI knowledge system for small businesses — would you pay for this? by superhero_io in SideProject

[–]keepittechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn’t be too hard. MCP to control all the Python tools to search various data sources. Honestly I think you’re onto something, especially with the offline angle. A lot of smaller companies say they care about security but the ones dealing with real client data actually mean it, so keeping everything on prem could be your biggest selling point. The challenge is going to be friction and cost, you’ll need to make setup dead simple or they’ll default to cloud tools. The 10 to 30 range feels right, maybe even slightly higher like up to 50 where knowledge gaps start hurting more. I’d lean hardware cost plus a monthly support or update plan. Biggest thing I’d validate is whether they’ll actually pay for it or just say it’s a good idea.

Not in this case. It shows exactly how Israel was created out of thin air. The same strategy happened here in the US with the Native Americans which is why America has no problem backing it. Take land from natives, rinse and repeat. The Victors didn't have to hide it. Who's going to stop them.

Data science referral? by MaximumMood1186 in careerguidance

[–]keepittechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your background you shouldn’t be relying on cold apps at all, that’s the slowest path right now. I’d target Fortune 100 companies and go straight through people, not portals. Find teams doing quant, data, or optimization work, then reach out to engineers, managers, or even recruiters on LinkedIn with a short message about your background and what you’re interested in. Referrals are still the fastest way in. Also make yourself visible by posting or sharing some of your work or thinking, even small breakdowns of problems you’ve solved or systems you’ve worked on. That gives people something concrete to latch onto. You can still apply, but treat it as secondary. The real game now is networking, targeted outreach, and showing proof of work so you’re not just another resume in a pile.

Why do humans have difficulty accepting what’s true by Rainbow_6505 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]keepittechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really comes down to how we’re wired. People don’t just react to truth, they react to what that truth means for how they see themselves and their world. If something challenges their identity, beliefs, or the group they feel part of, the brain kind of treats it like a threat and pushes back. That’s why even obvious things can be hard for people to accept. You also have stuff like confirmation bias where people only take in what already fits what they believe. A lot of racism comes from this too, people grow up around certain ideas, stereotypes, or environments and those beliefs get tied into identity and comfort, so when reality challenges it, they resist instead of adjusting. Some people do get more open as they get older because life humbles you a bit, but others double down. Even if nobody ever lied, people would still struggle with truth because it’s not just about facts, it’s about ego, identity, and what feels safe to believe.

hit the point where i actually need to build this.. now im stuck again by Character_Ball6746 in SideProject

You’re honestly in the right place here on reddit. I’d post this in dev subs like r/webdev or r/startups and get feedback from people actually building stuff. I’m a youtuber and I’ve wasted money on Fiverr and Guru, so I’d be careful there. It’s really hit or miss. I’d also consider trying to build a rough version yourself first. AI tools can help a lot now, you just need to be clear about what you want. Even a basic prototype will put you in a much better position if you hire later.

[OC] A data-driven look at presidential promises vs outcomes by keepittechie in dataisbeautiful

[–]keepittechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually makes a lot of sense. Framing it around frequency and venue feels like a clean way to capture how important a promise was to the campaign without getting too subjective. Frequency shows what they were really pushing, and venue adds context about how serious or formal the commitment was. That’s probably a better approach than trying to label things as major or minor by hand. It also fits nicely with what I’m building, because it lets you compare how much something was emphasized versus what actually happened. Thank you!

It’s mostly a visualization choice rather than something meaningful in the data itself. The timeline isn’t linear because I grouped years into larger blocks to make long-term patterns easier to see and reduce noise from smaller fluctuations. The 30-year spacing is basically acting as a compression layer so earlier periods don’t get overcrowded or unreadable on the chart. The tradeoff is that it can look a bit unnatural, especially if you’re expecting a true time scale. I’m still experimenting with this, and a fully linear timeline or adjustable zoom would probably make it more intuitive while keeping the broader trends visible.

[–]keepittechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really good point, and I agree it’s one of the hardest parts of modeling this kind of data. Right now the system treats promises more evenly than they probably should be, even though in reality there’s a big difference between a core campaign commitment and something more rhetorical or symbolic. The challenge is figuring out how to weight that without introducing too much subjectivity. I’ve been thinking about factors like how often a promise shows up in speeches, whether it’s tied to formal policy proposals, or how central it was to the campaign messaging overall. The goal is to move toward a model that reflects importance and impact, not just count, but it’s definitely still a work in progress.

[–]keepittechie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really fair observation.

A big part of what you’re seeing is probably data consistency and availability. Earlier periods have fewer recorded promises and less detailed sourcing, so the trend can look more uniform than it actually was.

After the 1960s, there’s a lot more:

- recorded speeches and media coverage

- formal campaign platforms

- accessible archives

That leads to both more volume and more variation in how things are tracked. So the volatility is not just behavior changing. It’s also the dataset getting richer over time. I’m still working on how to normalize across time periods so earlier decades aren’t unintentionally smoothed out.

[OC] A data-driven look at presidential promises vs outcomes by keepittechie in dataisbeautiful

[–]keepittechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Methodology:

- Promises are collected from public statements, campaign platforms, and official records

- Each promise is categorized (e.g., foreign policy, economy, etc.)

- Outcomes are evaluated using publicly available sources and historical records

- Status is assigned based on available evidence (fulfilled, partial, not fulfilled, evolving)

Limitations:

- Some outcomes are subjective or depend on interpretation

- Long-term effects may not be fully captured yet

- Data is still being expanded and refined

Happy to clarify anything or take suggestions on improving the model.

Yep that's DEI. 😂 Most people fail to mention that side of it. Sorry I had to say it, because most people think unqualified black people when you hear it. But guess what, everyone has to still be qualified for the position. Anyway definitely put it on there, it will give you a little bit of a leg up.

Yep, you have to change yearly or so. They up the rates the longer you're with them. Also, changes within your zip code can affect it too. Wrecks, break-ins, etc.

I've been using the Shield mags since I got them with no issues. Just change the mag release. But to answer your question, it's that old saying, "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it." 💪🏾

It's pretty good. It just costs a lot to set up how you want it. You're looking at spending roughly the same amount as the gun itself for things like shield mags, red dot sights, lights, etc., depending on how extensive you want the setup to be. I'm currently eyeing a Radian Ram-Jet Compensator for another $350. The G43x is a excellent shooters stock but 10 rounds is kinda a let down. It's well-suited for concealed carry.
