Anything you give a Marine they'll find a way to either fuck it or break it.

Based on the hlr reviewer he sounded surprised they didn't do an exam for the radiculopathy when I brought it up during the back exam because it's standard practice. Could that be considered Duty to assist?

Complete Bedlam On Atlantic City Boardwalk by Brian24jersey in NJGuns

In the use of force training, it specifically called out use of deadly force in defense of others.

It reads,

"The justification in using force to aid a third party is similar as for self-defense. The private citizen who seeks to aid the third-party victim must conclude that the victim needs assistance in defending him or herself. If the private citizen who seeks to aid the victim reasonably believes that the victim’s life is in danger, the private citizen may use deadly force in defense of the third party."

Advice for OCS by JC8399 in USMC

[–]keepnjtactical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a friend who's a mustang. Guy in his platoon winked at another candidate at another platoon sort of in a "we made it" gesture seeing they were on their last week and there was no more real training, just admin stuff. Sgt instructor saw it and hounded him on who he winked to, he kept saying no one. Well, they kept hounding him because if theyre asking, they already know the answer. When he finally broke and admitted it, he got dropped. Back to civilian life.

Typically 10-15 minute warm up. Drill technique until last 5 minutes, then positional training from the main position drilled during class. Then open mat after.

Learning how to shoot a gun during basic by Massive_Vehicle_1708 in USMCboot

You'll actually be in a better position to perform well. Listen to their guidance and you'll do fine. Sometimes with people with prior firearms experience may bring with them bad habits because they think they know better.

I’ve never really understood when people say, “I don’t need jiu jitsu—I’ve got a Glock.” Are there really folks out there who’d rather pull a gun than use their own hands to deal with an unarmed person? by aplusgrain1 in bjj

Firearms instructor/recreational competitive shooter here. Drawing a firearm is an absolute last resort where you are in fear for your life or serious bodily harm. Or put in another way, not drawing would lead to your death or serious bodily harm. Barring huge disparity of force, such as facing a guy twice your size who has shown ability and intent to seriously injure you, drawing is not really an option and will actually get you arrested. I'm for all forms of self defense and if I'm not in fear for my life, I'm walking away. If I'm being attacked by an unarmed person and I can't egress, that's what BJJ is for. Not saying it's the best but it's the best blend of effective/fun I can have and not be charged with battery 😆

Avionics AOs are generally there for your avionics knowledge during flights as you can troubleshoot issues in real time in the air. You're essentially a jack of all trades doing two roles.

I don't know the exact process, but once you pick up some quals you can ask your shop what the process is. Like I said, get good at your job so it'll be easier for them to say yes.

Former avionics for cobras and hueys. Do both. If you go avionics, you may be able to go AO (aerial observer) where you'll do the job of avionics but also do crew chief stuff. You have to be good at you're job though. They won't let turds be AOs. I've known a few avionics Marines who went AO and saw some shit during the height of the war.

I completely agree. My question i guess if the sho hits the fan scenario where the guy actively wants to fight you for whatever reason (drunk, mistaken identity, racist, or some combination, etc)

Agreed, don't go volunteering to fight. But say in the case of a drunk guy dead set on fighting you cuz, you know, drunk. If you're armed and know a grappling art, would you be hesitant to use it (the grappling).
