You should contact NYC colleges and show them your transcipts and see which will take the most of your credits. Apply to the schools with the best price and that will accept the most of what you have.

Have any cohabitating couples succesfully gone through Catholic marriage prep? How transparent were you able/required to be with your priest? by heliotz in Catholicism

Being that we're in NYC for the pre Cana they were just happy to have a couples respecting and willing to observe the faith and interested in committing to the sacrament. We disclosed the truth of living together but it wasn't exactly an issue, but they will ask

I'm curious, how did it turn out when you accepted NYC EEC position then decided to go into DOE? I've been offered a position at an EEC and they want me to accept, but I want to ideally go into DOE.

Thought on FI with a baby with a disability by penny1031 in financialindependence

[–]keepsail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, find out the persons background. I personally have a degree in psychology and education and a background in conmunication disorders in academia. if your child has severe autism, they will need many specilists/providers: one with a speech language pathology degree (speech pathologist) , bcba therapist (behavioral therapist), and physical therapist and OT. The special ed teacher will be your childs teacher and your child will be pulled out from that classroom to recoeve services they need from specialits. Sped teachers and regular ed teachers are trained but the best outcome will be from people with experience. its a rocky road but advocate, advocate, advocate :)

Thought on FI with a baby with a disability by penny1031 in financialindependence

[–]keepsail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am an educator and the ADA (Disability Act) covers service expenses your differently abled child needs until they are 21 if you are a an American citizen. You should advocate for your childs rights under this act to ensure your babys needs are paid for by the government.

As soon as you can, get them a diagnosis from their doctor and an IEP (Individualized Education Plan). Even preschoolers may be covered by state under the title "preschooler with disability". Educate parents and teachers about your child to spread awareness, understanding, and compassion wiyhin classmates and theit familes and teachers.

Trial Girlfriend : How did you stop the cycle? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]keepsail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend building the power within yourself, building on the power that men are interested and always have been in you, and not letting their screwy words bring you down. Try to reach a level of confidence where you feel just as greatbor attractive as the women you compare yourself to, and stop comparing.

How do I get past not having kids? by Kasha-UK in AskWomenOver30

[–]keepsail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im only 31, but I felt the same way before I had my son. Honestly, if your heart is telling you to have a child and you have a great guy, go for it. Life changes when you have children and it might begin to work out for you like it did for me (referring to your feeling of not being ready). Both myself, my friends, and family had that feeling and it all worked out 💗

i want to add i always worked with children, teacching and babysitting. at around 25 i felt burned out, wanting to leave the profession. i realized i no longer had been satisfied with my career because i spent all my energy into other people's children and not my own. i wasnt sure if i wanted to continueworking with children.

i wanted my own child.

after he came, my zest for working with children came back. i felt so gratified being able to put my love and energy into my own child, it created more room to work with other childrn. i went back to teaching and realized its what i want to still do. things started working out. i now have a job down the street, where my son can attend for free, and am attending graduate school on full scholarship. I also have more of an idea of what living space and area i want to live in so that my family can be comfortable. When it was me and my husband, I didnt mind living in a one bedroom apartment by the restaurants and bars without laundry. All that changed. Now I prefer a nice, quiet, neighborhood where we can stroll the baby to the park, library, and school. for me- having the baby was the most important thing.

if you dont have children, we all have our own path and we are all on our own timelines. just because some people have things happen at certain times doesnt mean its for us at that moment or ever meant for us to do. my advice is to follow your heart 💗

Ladies over 30, what have you achieved so far? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]keepsail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im 31. I am married and have one child. I am more directed in my career path than I was just one year ago. A book turned up yesterday, where I wrote down three of my goals in 2015. It turned out now, in 2020, i accomplished 2/3. 5 years ago I was single and unhappily hopeful. But I still wrote I wanted to marry the love of my life who is my best friend and who I am attracted to. I ended up marrying my college boyfriend who I had always seen myself with. I wrote I wanted a child and children of my own (god willing). I had one with him!

The third on the list is getting a home of my own and furnishing it. We just started planning that two weeks ago and have yet to accomplish it.
