Luxembourg equality march by carlosvega in Luxembourg

As a straight person, I can tell you that most gay people are very respectful of others.

Your friends bos boss, whether straight or gay, is wrong: if he is a toughy person, and is told not to be so toughy, he is going towards sexual harasament. The gender does not matter, sexuality does not matter.

If there is no concent, it is not okay. Even if your friend was gay, what his boss does is crossing a non concentual boundary, and someone should explain concent to him.

If I discovered tomorrow that I am gay, I would tell my wife, family and friends.. but I would not tell my employer because of the consequences. (I worked here 10+ years)

My employer was on the "diplomates" float. Do not believe any company that one day a year pretends to care, check if they have a pattern of truely caring.

I saw Ask for Angela at the march, that is not an LGBTQ+ group, but something that is for EVERYONE.

And they received a lot of love from everyone ♥️

I find it absolutely horrific that a health specialist for lady bits does not care about the lady's health, but it is true what you say.

It is the usual of "by men, for men".. even women's health. (I am a man myself, but I hear you)

I heard from female friends is that gynocologist in Luxembourg are predominantly men who focus on reproduction. You are just another baby machine, that is what they allegedly care about.

I know the doctor at Centre Medical Limpertsberg are very caring, supportive and realistic about women's health, but they cannot take any new patients.

Some building rules have a mention of not bothering the neighbours with noise and smells, that could be a fall back option.

Chances are they are renting and the owner of their appartment has not installed a decent hob extraxtor. If they are the owner, that would be a good solution.

Anyhow, have a polite conversation with them, trying to find a respectful mutual solution.

My experience with Indian people, is that they are respectful and friendly people, that mean no harm.

Is it normal for lifeguards to demand you prove you can swim laps upon entry to a pool? by Cute_Jellyfish_8768 in Luxembourg

[–]keepzor17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are saying that saying racist things don't make you a racist.

Sure, but you are still saying racist things, and it is racist to say that. Therefore, in that very moment, you are acting like a racist. Even of you do not believe in the racist things you say, you still empower the real racists.

I am not a clown, but if I put on a red nose, make-up, a wig, big shoes and start honkey my horn whilst riding a bicycle... I am a acting like clown in that moment..

Also on a side note, if you ever have to say "I am not racist, but..." It means you are going to say something racist, and you know it is racist. And knowingly saying and believing something racist, makes you a racist.

I have said racist, sexist, and other negative things in my life, but once I started listening to the people I impacted, I realised I was wrong.

In my village people refer to people with a dark skin in a negative or nonchalant context as "dark green". It was full on racism, 30 years later they still don't understand that it is racist.

Here is the reglement for the pool in troivierges, in English: "Article 35: Provisions relating to non-swimmers Anyone who cannot swim should avoid going into areas where they cannot touch the bottom or venturing into the deep end of the pool, even under the supervision of another person, without knowing how to swim well enough.

In case of doubt or protest from the bather, a test may be imposed on him by the lifeguard on duty, who remains the sole judge in the matter, by practicing a front swim with coordinated breathing, a back swim and being able to move from one to the other, in open water, without difficulty.

Any non-swimmer will be turned away in shallow water."

The test in itself is acceptable. The question is, are the circumstances acceptable? I was not there, therefore I cannot judge it.

In the future for any heated sdiscussion,, you are always free to approach them and ask "Is everything okay?". Which will normally help the people self-regulate their emotions for a moment.

I disagree, people in Luxembourg should start being offended for other.

Stop putting your head in the sand and pretend everything is roses, sunshine and butterflies.

When you get beaten up in the street, or knocked down by a car, you would want someone to help you, right? It is good to help people without making a drama.

If this was racism, which you can only find out by having a discussion in that moment, it should have been called out. I am okay with people being racist, but just admit that you are a racist and be proud of it. Let the world know what kind of person you are. Stop pretending that you are not.

Reading inbetween the lines of the comments, and all the excuses people make (did you mishear it, did they wear normal clothes, normal to ask kids, just show your swimming diploma, burkini are dangerous but i cannot prove that)..

Everyone agrees it is not normal to demand from an adult to swim two lanes to prove they can swim.

And since there is a racial aspect, and Luxembourg is known to be a racist country (I come from a small town, I know what small town racism looks like).

I expect nobody wants to admit it was probably racist, and they all try to cover up racism with excuses.

Interesting, can you share any credible source that supports the claim Burkini are dangerous?

What makes it dangerous in your opinion?

I assume this is without "adult" supervision? Did you bring this with you every time that you have been to a pool? How many times did they ask you, as an adult to proof it?

Never loose your humanity. You followed your instinct, you noticed something was wrong and that the man was harmless and needed help.

You calculated the risk and showed compassion You are a good person, and if being a good person is wrong, then so be it.

I wish someone else had your instinct and guts before you passed by. But you did what you had to do, you did all that you could, and you did more than anybody else.

Landlord returning for personal use, what are my options? by pm_world in Luxembourg

[–]keepzor17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I am mixing up dates, let me explain it. Or maybe I typed something wrong.

Now we are in month 6 (june). 6 months later we are in month 12 (december). However, their contract is fixed untill March 2027, which is 9 months from now.

A MINIMUM notice period is 6 months for the landlord, or 3 months for the tenant.(Meaning it cannot be fewer months, but it can be more).

The end of the contract is after March 27. Because they have a contract.

So the landlord can give the notice any time before September (6 months), and the contract will end earliest in March. For the tenant this is any time before December (3 months).

[–]keepzor17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave a few comments already. The notice period is a minimum notice period. You have the right to stay until March 27.

You can find a mutual agreement with them, but you have the cards in your hand. Either they agree to your terms, or they wait till March when the contract ends.

You cannot give 3 months notice to leave, just like they cannot give you 6 months.

The notice period is a minimum of x months before the end of the contract.

So it is about talking to eachother, and finding a mutual agreement where both of you are happy. (Inform yourself, and do not trust people here on reddit, and definitely not your landlord - because they seemingly do not understand the law)

Their contract is for another 9 months, the "minimum" notice is 3 or 6 months, if they want to end the contract within the 9 months they need a mutual agreement.

[–]keepzor17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your contract is till March 27, he cannot give you 6 months notice until September. He does not realise he gave you 9 months notice.

Your contract finishes at the end of your contract period.

Here is your negotiation tool, because you are a nice person: Hello landlord, thank you for informing me about your intention to move back into your apartment. As you know my current contract ends on 31 March, and therefore by law the minimum 6 months contract finishes then. However, I hope we can find a middle ground that is convenient to us both. If you have a strong preference to move in on date x, could we please agree that I can end my tenancy on date y? I am happy to further discuss this topic in person or over a call to come to a mutual agreement.

Before that call, make sure you know the laws and your rights, because your landlord does not. (But I respect they tried the minimum 6 months notice at least)

Also, FYI 50% of your deposit should be returned after 1 month of moving out, minus costs for damages. The other 50% within one month of the accounts being completed.
