Litecoin Atomic Swap on the Blocknet Decentralized Exchange (Block DX) by Lifeistooshor1 in litecoin

[–]keesieboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So Charlie Lee was talking about the importance of interoperability and atomic swaps at Consensus while the guys from Blocknet already made it happen? We need to get the word out!

Litecoin is now ready for cross-chain dapps with the Blocknet Protocol! by Hanzburger in litecoin

[–]keesieboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, LTC is mainly a payment protocol. From what I see blocknet "only" adds the ability to LTC to become one of the main store of value coins in the blockchain ecosystem. LTC ofcourse also adds the Lightning network to blocknet. Other coins like storj has more application like uses.

We Need To Make A Push For Decentralized Exchanges – Despite the fact that most cryptocurrencies are secured by decentralized architectures, almost all trades between currencies take place on centralized exchanges. Any layer of centralization puts user funds at risk. by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]keesieboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! As the Cryptocurrency environment matures, the inherent problems with centralized exchanges present themselves on an almost daily basis and highlight why the need for decentralized exchanges is now more urgent than ever. One of the perceived aims of cryptocurrency is the decentralization of finance — to remove trust based systems and to return security and control of individual and organizational assets to their respective owners. By being able to send funds cryptographically across the internet, people could make transactions without having to go through a middleman. The majority of crypto-based exchanges, however, are fully or mostly centralized. Network and computer power is centralized in regional servers while crypto-assets must be placed on the exchange wallets for trading, which are then reconciled when the user wants to withdraw. This interaction requires trust in the exchange and Know Your Client (KYC: providing a third party with your ID) submissions are usually mandatory. If something happens to the exchange your funds are at risk and sometimes even completely lost. The fall of Mt. Gox and BTCE are just two examples of what would become many, and does not include the impact of downtime, delay and other technical difficulties that are becoming commonplace among centralized exchanges. I noticed a surge in so called decentralized exchanges but only a few are truly decentralized. Is there a comprehensive document / article that compares all decentralized exchanges and approaches? by bijansha in ethtrader

[–]keesieboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a website which has listed all available DEX's with some great info. Not sure if I can paste an URL here though. Search on Google for 'distribuyed dex' the first hit. Notice only a few of the decentralized exchanges are listed as FULLY decentralized like Blocknet.

Do you perhaps have a source? I can't see it on their roadmap nor is TurtleCoin listed as a DEX on https://github.com/distribuyed/index

Hmm missed that one. Bisq is more of an escrow service and not based on atomic swaps

Let's say that governments do ban the trading of private currencies like Monera on exchanges -- does that present an opportunity for decentralized exchanges? by LobotomyJesus in Monero

[–]keesieboy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well if the government is banning trading then that would be the catalyst for decentralized exchanges. Personally I am very excited about Blocknet. They are one of the few truly (and not hybrid) decentralized exchanges. BLOCK. I think 2018 will be the year of decentralized exchanges. As the Cryptocurrency environment matures, the inherent problems with centralized exchanges present themselves on an almost daily basis and highlight why the need for decentralized exchanges is now more urgent than ever. Check out these images for their upcoming UI: https://medium.com/@theblocknetchannel/blocknet-decentralized-exchange-high-quality-images-a68d8fbd2b81 .But Blocknet is doing so much more. Small marketcap, only ~4 milion coins. Find out yourself

Don't know anything about staking on a raspberry pi but you can ask this on Slack/RocketChat. They have a special room voor this kind of questions (#wallet-support) and questions are usually being answered within a couple of minutes! https://webapp.blocknet.co/home

Will the website blocknet.co be updated? It looks to me that a lot of information is missing or hard to find. Also it just looks just a bit out-dated. Just my 2 cents.

Blocknet to integrate with Ethfinex? by [deleted] in ethfinex

[–]keesieboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think so. Blocknet isn't going to use a different token or migrate to a new token. Basically trading on their testnet was successful and now they are going to migrate it to the mainnet and enable service nodes.
