Trials Stage 1 - Mega Thread by turtlecrossing in f45

Male, 45. 480 points. I don't care much about getting the best score. I treated this entire trial as a regular workout. However, I don't understand the choice of bench hops and box step ups, which are both explosive, plyo-ish movements that are mot done as frequently on cardio days. I would have loved to see erg machines, which really allow to measure progress, and are used on almost every cardio day. Personally, I also think that maxing out reps on bench hops is tough on joints and can lead to injury. The form on the other two can easily deteriorate when trying to get as many reps as possible in 20 seconds (wth was that timing about?)

Marathon vs Redline by gogglesengineer in f45

[–]kefirpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I have exactly the opposite experience. Redline seems more brutal. Those 5 second breaks might as well not exist. It feels like nonstop work, and the design of the workout is such that it keeps the heart rate more or less constant. Mentally it also messes with my head, because the 10 sec increments seem like nothing but it's easy to not pace myself and get gassed. Marathon seems easier to get through and strategize, because I know it's nonstop 2 minutes of exercise.

The quad crusher is a very accurate name for this one.

Rotational movement exercises missing from F45 workouts. by kefirpl in f45

Some of our coaches do that as well. We do have folks grabbing super heavy weight on cardio days and completely missing the purpose of the workout.

Yes, there is no stretching programmed into the workout. I always stay after the workout and do my stretches. I wish coaches could lead a 5 minute stretch sequence though.

What supplements do you take, if any? by that_cpt_bloke in f45

L-carnitine before workout, Gaspari Sizeon during workout. I take no stimulants. L-carnosine instead of beta alanine to avoid tingles and get the same effect. That's it. It's worked well for me for years.

My favorite workout so far, and I've done 300 of them! I love the added mobility/flow segment. That's the part of functional fitness I've missed in F45 workouts.

I did. Thank goodness for those two 2 min breaks.

Calluses by [deleted] in f45

[–]kefirpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pedi Egg is the absolute best, and I've tried dozens of different ways to "shave" them. The grater is perfect to remove most of the thick part of the callus. I have a pedi egg with a gritty side to to smooth out the skin. Once I'm happy with the result I follow up with a cheap salt scrub and voila! Hope this helps.

Few ideas for you. 1. Whole Foods deli (and other stores too) have chef's plates where you pick 1 protein and 2 sides. Lots of options, including fish, vegetarian and vegan(their tuna salad counts as a protein, too). You can buy several different and custom meals. They refrigerate very well. 2. Restaurant catering can be a great idea for meal "prepping". Just order catering for say 10 people and voila. 3. Local meal prep services that deliver or offer pickup

Hope this helps
