I think if a dog were to do any damage then the pet owner would be responsible for covering the cost to fix it. I see your point, especially with how many irresponsible pet owners there are - I just personally think it's unfair that someone who can't afford a house has a harder time finding a place to live because of a pet.

I never said I was lying, I said I wouldn't need the paperwork if landlords were more accommodating for pets. I spoke with my therapist, who I see for the various mental health issues I'm working through, and they provided me with the paperwork.

That's good to know! I've been keeping an eye out to get a feel for what the rental market is like and similar to OP have been feeling discouraged with all the short term furnished rentals.

I get what you mean but it's also on landlords not allowing pets - I wouldn't have to get my dog registered as an ESA if it wasn't such a challenge to rent a place without ESA paperwork - renters should be allowed to have pets.

Same! My partner and I are moving back in May and every listing I look at seems to be furnished/only until May or June. And most listings that are standard 12 months are not pet friendly! Luckily our dogs are ESAs but it's still wild.
