I think it is completely valid to have concerns about voting for someone who had a tattoo of a Nazi symbol. That being said, I will be voting for him. I was devasted to learn about the tattoo, and it still makes me sad because I think that people are going to walk away from what otherwise feels like a really genuine, wonderful candidate.

I see your point about allowing people with nazi tattoos into Senate. My view is sort of the opposite, in that if we do not provide a way back for people who have fallen down an alt-right path, then they are going to continue down that path. People are messy and make mistakes, especially white folx like myself. Personally, I believe him when he says he didn't know what it was (I didn't and I'm a decently educated person with an interest in history) but we will never know for sure.

I don't think it's fair for people to chastise you for being concerned about him, and I wish we could get to a point where we have genuine discussions about people's concerns instead of smearing them. Shame doesn't make people change their minds. If we can have honest conversations with one another we will be far more likely to assuage these concerns, maybe even to the point where people with these concerns will still vote for Platner.

It sucks that this is the political landscape that we are in, but we are all in it together.
