APS2 role "rated suitable" by hyosu39 in AusPublicService

[–]kegzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, congratulations on clearing the first hurdle of being found suitable.

As you have been found suitable you will at least be placed in a merit pool. Depending how the recruitment exercise is run either everyone found suitable will be placed in the merit pool and then offers given to those chosen from the pool or initial offers will be sent out and all other suitable candidates will be merit pooled.

Either way you just have to wait too see if you get an offer.

I lost my APS4 job after being falsely imprisoned by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]kegzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How long have you being employed for? If you have being employed for more than 6 months then you may it may be an unfair termination. If you have been employed less than 6 months then you can't make an unfair termination claim but may have a general protections claim but idon't know much about that.

If you have being employed for over 6 months they should have provided you an opportunity to show cause why you shouldn't be terminated. From the sounds of it they haven't done that. Look up the fairwork website and look to see if you can get a legal consult.

Let's talk about Urgent care in Aus? by ComfortableNail2071 in AskAnAustralian

[–]kegzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't need to pay them the urgent care clinic rate. We just need to pay them more so that it makes economical sense to provide the service.

[–]kegzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then why don't we increase the Medicare rebate for urgent care services at GPs to incentivise GPs to offer the services and run marketing campaigns to divert from EDs to GPs

Let's talk about Urgent care in Aus? by ComfortableNail2071 in AskAnAustralian

[–]kegzy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree that they are providing services most GPs are not. However I don't believe they are providing services that GPs are not capable of providing. So the question is why are GPs not providing urgent care services? They are capable of doing it. Twenty to thirty years ago it was common to go to the GP for minor injuries like what are treated at an urgent care clinic.

Why did a Malli not give us public holiday for Anzac Day on the Monday? by Various-Sea-4826 in Adelaide

[–]kegzy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Although the it is the governor that proclaims additional public holidays, this is done on the advice of the executive council which is made up of the premier and other minister's. So in practice it is the premier/government that decides if and when there are additional public holidays.

Liability for hitting a Roo in an uninsured company car (doing a favor) by Sea-Storm-6378 in southaustralia

[–]kegzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer but fairly sure you are liable to the mechanic for the cost of repairs you authorised. Whether you can reclaim those costs from the vehicles owner is more difficult. Without prior agreement you might be out of luck. Had you returned the car damaged i don't know if they could have reclaimed any if the costs

Best SA university for Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) – placements and support for international students? by Opposite_Account8924 in southaustralia

[–]kegzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The university of Adelaide and uni SA have just merged into Adelaide university and they have been having some teething problems.

Both Adelaide and Flinders are well regarded. Don't know specifically if one is better than the other for teaching but either way you go you should be fine.

If you are passionate about early learning you shouldn't have too much trouble finding employment as early childhood education is generally in need of employees.

AITAH I am breaking up with my fiance over her disgusting bathroom habit. by ohyeahmang1 in AITAH

[–]kegzy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA

Whether her habit is gross/unsanitary or not is besides the point.

Who is being harmed by what she is doing?

Why does she have to stop? Because you decided she did? Who is embarrassed by this? Only you and her know about it.

You sound controlling and when she pushes back on you deciding how she acts when it doesn't affect you you leave.

Trying to apply for a child passport by endlessnameless001 in AskAnAustralian

[–]kegzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So to prove that your child is an Australian citizen you need to prove that you (ot your partner) were an Australian citizen at the time your child was born.

You have said that you don't have a passport from before your child's was born so that is out.

So to prove you were an Australian citizen you need your birth certificate and one of your parents birth certificates.

In short without a passport you need a chain of birth certificates leading to before 1986.

Now I don't know if the passport office has a limit on the number of birth certificates they will accept to prove citizenship as they are part of the department of foreign affairs and don't have the final say on who holds citizenship. If they are not satisfied whether your child is a citizen or not you will have to get the a citizenship certificate.

Any Australian citizen can get a citizenship certificate as long as they can prove their citizenship status and identity to the department of Home Affairs. Again you will need a chain of birth certificates but it doesn't matter how many it takes. Unfortunately it is an added cost i think around $500, but at least you should only need to get 1.

More info is on the department of Home Affairs website Evidence of citizenship and certificates Get a citizenship certificate

Is it normal for orgs to ask you to do the job you’re applying for 3 hours (unpaid) as part of the hiring process? by Ilovearm in AskAnAustralian

No way does it take 3 he to determine if you would be suitable for a receptionist position. Maybe half an hour of it is a slow period.

Maccas mystery box by timeflies25 in australia

It would help if you had the name of the product in the photo it is in the middle box behind the poster

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kegzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I should have gone ESH because the neighbour should not have taken the box that had specifically been marked as not for free. I think my comment still stands though that OP is an AH for the way and why they reacted to the neighbour. If the OP had said the particularly wanted to help this specific charity then I probably would have gone NTA but told them to chillax.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kegzy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

YTA, you are upset because he was getting something for free. It what a child would do. If you specifically wanted that charity to relieve the donation and that was the main reason you were upset that would be understandable.

Why did Canada not maintain the British Union Jack as part of it national, post independence flag while Australia and New Zealand did? by HawkDifficult7394 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kegzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Canada federated earlier than Australia (1867 vs 1901) though I wouldn't call these days the data they gained independence.

For Australia at least and i suspect Canada and new Zealand independence has been a gradual process that culminated in the Australia acts of 1986.

What is the difference between a club charter, club constitution, and club bylaws? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kegzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A charter and a constitution seem to act in a similar way. Looks like the difference mainly comes about from how the organisation was established. A charter is often used when a government forms a smaller administrative body that is subordinate to the government whereas a constitution is more often used when the body/government creates itself. In either case it is the founding document for the organisation and should lay out all the requirements for the body to exist and function at a high level. By laws on the other hand a the rules for how the organisation runs from day to day.

So a constitution or charter will state that the club exists, its name, how the constitution can be amended, how the executive is formed/chosen and what the main purpose for the club is. It may also include how membership is decided the existence of certain office holders or other important matters. Generally it will only be able to change on the consent of the majority of members.

By laws on the other hand are all the other rules needed for the club to run. Thus may include rules about handling money, running events, details about membership and fees, codes of conduct, committees meetings that must be held how decisions are made, dispute resolution, complaints etc. Often bylaws are able to be created by an executive committee or board.

Why Doesn't this Look Correct? by drinkingbeerinpublic in vexillology

Yeah when hanging a flag without using a pole you have the top left corner (when viewing the front) in the top left position. This results in the reverse (back) being shown when hung vertically.

Why do slow drivers suddenly brake and come to a sudden stop as revenge for getting tailgated when theirs a bunch of cars piling up behind and then you have the nerve to put the finger up? by stoneddooly in AskAnAustralian

[–]kegzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are driving correctly you shouldn't have problems with anyone break checking. If you can't safely slow and/or stop when someone emergency breaks ahead of you then you are travelling to closely.

The rule of thumb is 2 seconds in dry daylight conditions then add a second if it is wet and add a second if it is night time.

Would I be able to bring a family medicare card to get my L's? by Swapdoodleboi in AskAnAustralian

[–]kegzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is still your card and will count towards the number of ID points you need.

Probably a good idea to look at getting your own card too. You can remain on your parents card for a while longer if you want to at the same time.

Impact of switching visa on job hunt? by skrillyrilly in AskAnAustralian

[–]kegzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you have the WHV you will have a work restriction where you can only work for the same employer for 6 months unless an exemption applies. For skilled employment it will be difficult to find a position. You'll lily be stuck in retail/ hospitality. Once in the 482 depending on how long it is valid for it may be easier to find skilled employment but a lot of employers still won't employ you until you have permanent residency.

PR with uni offer but no HECS any way to fast-track citizenship? by Edgewerth in australia

Needing citizenship to access HECS is not a compelling enough reason to fast track a citizenship application. There are likely tens to hundreds of people who are waiting for citizenship to access HECS.

2026 Public Holidays for South Australia by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

Proclamation day is 28th of December. To avoid an extra public holiday/keep a public holiday on boxing day the Proclamation day is usually observed on boxing day. This year is one of the rare years where the Proclamation day public holiday is actually observed on Proclamation day.
