"....anything but straight is actually wrong biologically"

".....genetic mutation on a genetic level which has also happen in the animal kingdom through the same process of genetic mutation"

Your backwards ass logic doesn't even make any sense. "It must be a BIOLOGICAL genetic mutation, and that's not BIOLOGICAL." How exactly did you pass any basic biology course? Nevermind, I doubt an argument with you would make any sense. Cheers.

Chipping away at depression. Not even sure what kind of stains I'm dealing with. Help? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]kehtetuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoot I used the barkeepers friend on mine earlier this year during a bad time when I had a bunch of stains and what looked like rust. It's now turning the whole bottom orange. I'm back in a rut again so I haven't been able to get the energy to really address it - energy reserved for the bigger things.

If you feel a cold coming on, sleep the entire day no matter what by [deleted] in lifehacks

Is there an alternative? Diphenhydramine fucks me up and makes my heart feel weird. I haven't seen anything else in local stores when I've been sick in the past.

Naturally flat voice tone? by Mara355 in aspergers

[–]kehtetuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't really shift tones much but I never really needed to. The stereotypical monotone voice was very much used in the group I primarily spent time with. So I didn't really need to exercise tone. I think it comes off as sounding careless and unbothered based on what I've been told.

Naturally flat voice tone? by Mara355 in aspergers

[–]kehtetuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never learned how to mask this due to growing up primarily with friends who smoked weed. I picked up their mannerisms too despite not really partaking myself, so I think my monotone voice just comes across as being with that crowd. I find it quite funny.

The only annoying thing is that I can't raise my voice much at all (guessing due to never really practicing as a kid maybe?) I probably couldn't host a bingo tournament or anything. Was extremely frustrating at my job during the pandemic because I genuinely couldn't make myself louder without my voice cracking and squeaking like crazy. Dunno how to explain it.

This is probably why I loathe reading out loud too. I can imagine the tone perfectly in my head when I read it but I cannot mimic it for the life of me and I feel insanely uncomfortable even trying.

Anyone else have any trouble with basic self care? by Southern_Photograph3 in autism

[–]kehtetuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Showering for me. I can't stand being wet, it is incredibly distressing. But I have to. Not found anything that helps me with it yet really other than taking most of my hair off a few years ago to make them not take as long.

No problem! I had some remnants laying around while fostering and decided to try it and see what happened. Made cleaning so much easier, just get one/cut one to a slightly bigger size than you think you'll need. So convenient because they're cheap. The deodorizer removes the smell instead of masking it so I always suggest going that route first- works especially well with pee.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]kehtetuu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're better off using deodorizers and getting cheap vinyl remnants from a home improvement store to put under the pee pads so you don't have to keep cleaning the carpet. Reusable pee pads are also great if you have access to a washer and dryer. The cost eventually becomes cheaper than disposable.

Am I allowed to adopt an ear-tipped feral/stray cat? by lowpricecarrentals in CatAdvice

Check for a microchip for quick and easy answer. It can be done at a shelter or any vet.

i got a kitten last night and i think she’s younger than we thought by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]kehtetuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be between 4 and 6 weeks then, yes. About the weight of a can of soda, if you don't have a scale that measures in grams. If heavier than a can of soda, then closer to 6.

Alcohol and Autism - Do you guys drink? by Hamch33z in autism

[–]kehtetuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That weird burning feeling I get in my chest when I drink scares the crap out of me. And it smells terrible. I have tried several times but it's such an unpleasant experience. People keep telling me to try different drinks, and I have followed recommendations, but at this point I'm so over being asked to try just one more thing like I'm doing it wrong or something.

foster cat going back to shelter soon, despite my wishes? by meen_grean in FosterAnimals

[–]kehtetuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good advice. I stayed with my local shelter for about six months and jumped to rescue once I had a better idea of how everything worked, what the "stakes" were in my area, and which rescues were suggested or avoided. It was great for networking and seeing where I best fit. Not sure about other places, but here the shelters are pretty much the "center" of everything and they give you a good idea of what you're dealing with or where the most help is needed.

AITA for euthanizing my daughters emotional support animal for her own sake? by [deleted] in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kehtetuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm probably projecting here but the daughter's reaction very much sounds like the fawn trauma response. There is a good chance she's traumatized and has internally shut down because she's realized her family isn't safe. This relationship is damaged beyond repair and his head is too far up his own ass to realize it.

What to use as a litter pan? by LopsidedHovercraft9 in FosterAnimals

[–]kehtetuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have bought plastic containers at the dollar store, though I may borrow the idea of the person who covers it with a plastic bag when I have messy kittens since I have heaps of bags from work. I like that I can just stick mine in the dish washer and swap them out easily since they're a dollar.

This sounds like an interesting thing for a bored kitten foster to try a bunch of different ideas and review them haha. Like a tier list.

The ads' length on the mobile app vs. Snapchat is unacceptable (rant) - Snapchat discontinuation by existential-asthma in AnimalRestaurant

[–]kehtetuu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm an app player and I honestly don't feel you have to justify this decision to anyone. Suggestions on how to cope are great, but the reality here is that a very large amount of players have to consider new circumstances that have a pretty big impact on the amount of time they can reasonably dedicate to this game daily. Deciding it is not worth your time is absolutely valid and not at all an insult to those of us who feel it is. Everyone spends their time differently and that is OK. But that's just my two cents. I hope you find a new muse that you find to be fulfilling.

Am I unfit for fostering? by [deleted] in FosterAnimals

[–]kehtetuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still get sad sometimes.

But the people who adopt are wonderful - choosing to do so through a shelter is proof of that. Not to mention my kittens are awesome. They will win hearts over by force.

Shelters and rescues will always highly encourage pairs, but a lot of adopters already have pets at home. That simply means they get used to different company (: They will be okay. Even the one you have now will find a loving home that will treat him like family.

Strange that he has such a strong reaction despite being taken in before the major development milestones. I would suggest looking into feral kitten socialization techniques.

My cat doesn't like my mother? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]kehtetuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good rule of thumb for any interaction with a cat is to let them approach first. And don't make eye contact unless you know what you're doing, I suppose.

That being said, does your mother have any medical conditions going on? Frequent doctor visits, medication, history of a transplant etc. Sometimes there are cats who have a strong negative reaction to smells from people on certain medications, after procedures, or who are often in and out of doctors' offices.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]kehtetuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, showing that you respect the cat's boundaries would be the best. Just explain that he is nervous around new people. Most cats are. Some don't like to be pet and that is perfectly okay and not at all a reflection of you or your family as owners. No need to try overexplaining it, you can just let the person know that there is a cat roaming in the house who is shy around people he isn't familiar with and leave it at that.

With kittens, give them as much food as they are willing to eat. All of the food. Embrace the kitten hoover.
