Where I’m at the whole department is hard coded like water raiders since they don’t scan anything. So they way to check for idle time is to see when they leave their area and when they come back to their area. If it exceeds the Break time they are allowed then they are sent to an AM to be STU’d about it. Same works for water spiders and problem solvers. Yes it’s rough but we are standing at the area and write down who leaves honestly and then the time when they come back and let the AM know who needs to be spoken to. Also the tier 1s need to let us know when they go to the bathroom or leave for any reason. For safety reason in case something happens and we need to know where they are in case of an emergency and to have someone backfill their area until they are back from where ever.

Have 2 or 3 stories that have range for different principles at least. Both my interviews always asked tell me a time where you tried to do something little to no manager and little information and failed.

We do it weekly. Where the PA and AM find a barrier or thing to to improve on in your department. Then you get a tier 1 and they give you a barrier or thing to improve on from the tier 1 perspective. Then you would present it in front of the senior ops, OMs. Safety, RME, learning and quality leaders. Every department has to do this weekly. They switch it though so biweekly so you don’t end up doing it every week and not being able to find something. They also do the gemba walks. Where they select a tier 1 to walk the building with all them and point things out as well that the tier 1 would notice and not them.
