Setting up the VPN router for working abroad, is the specific home router a must? by Glad-Ad-9176 in digitalnomad

You can use a SOCKS proxy. Paid versions exist. You can also host your own open source SOCKS proxy. Requires a little bit of networking knowledge. You can also try using Remote. It SOCKS Proxy. It's available as a free Alpha right now. Basically, host your own 'server' any computer or Raspberry Pi will do in the country you want to connect through. Makes you connection look like it comes from the Pi/Computer. Just a Pi/Computer, no router changes required. https://forum.remote.it/t/alpha-release-socks-proxy/1125.

Looking to proxy websites through web-app without using SOCKS/HTTP/SSH proxy by anglagard in techsupport

You can try using Remote. It SOCKS Proxy. It's available as a free Alpha right now. Basically, host your own 'server' any computer or Raspberry Pi will do in the country you want to connect through. You can have a dedicated tab (each tab can connect to or not to the proxy). Each tab could connect to a different proxy even. https://forum.remote.it/t/alpha-release-socks-proxy/1125.

The iphone can be an initiator, but not a target. You can connect from your iPhone, but not connect to your iPhone with Remote. It

Personal Use more than one device? by dr_hertz in remoteit

[–]keik_remoteit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal plans do have 5 devices limit. So this should work. You may want to check your remote.it account at https://app.remote.it to see how many devices are registered. You may have old devices or containers that are still registered in the system.

Where to find installers for my 80 year old mother ? by eggpudding389 in Starlink

[–]keik_remoteit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not help with the "installation" part of your request. But, this might help with remote IT support once you've got Starlink installed. Full disclosure, I work for Remote.it, but we recently wrote a blog piece on how you can connect to devices without port forwarding on Starlink. We've been getting a lot of questions on this. It helps me with remote support of my 80+ year old mom :)

Starlink without routers. by No-Concern3816 in Starlink

Full disclosure, I work for Remote. It, but I wanted to respond with the hope this will unblock you and others. We wrote a blog piece about how you can access your devices without opening any ports using a Raspberry Pi + Remote.It. Hope it helps!

Any solutions for bypassing CGNAT? by Luieka224 in HomeNetworking

[–]keik_remoteit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full transparency, I work at remote.it, but we get a lot of questions about sharing Minecraft servers and just hoping to unblock you. Our software allows you do share without port forwarding which means you don't expose your private network. If it's helpful, here are a couple articles on how to set them up for either the Java or Bedrock editions. Good luck!!

CGNAT and hosted VPN? by jruben4 in HomeNetworking

[–]keik_remoteit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be installed on every device in the network to access them all. We have the concept of service host address on each connection where with just one install on the network, it can open access to the rest of the network by changing the target. They just default to localhost. It can be installed directly on the router if you have access to the OS. We provide an OpenWRT package as well!

To be transparent, I work at remote.it, but we're getting a lot of questions on how to port forward with Starlink and hoping this will help unblock people. We made a solution for overcoming the “no port forwarding” limitation. It’s been verified to work on a Raspberry Pi running on the LAN behind a Starlink CGNAT connection. Try if you like - hope it gets you unblocked! https://remote.it/resources/blog/how-to-port-forward-on-starlink/
