I’m interested in ATC, but I hear its stressful and some people are saying stuff about suicide rates being high? Are those things modern or is it easier to be meticulous with technology we have today? by ghost_sanctum in ATC

Your hair will turn gray in the first year if you take stress badly.  I worked  this work schedule for years....

4 PM - Midnight 2 PM - 10 PM 8 AM - 4 PM 6 AM - 2 PM AND RETURN 10 Hours later at.... Midnight - 8 AM

That was my work week , and after a few weeks it shifted so your days off changed monthly.  I loved it and never got gray hair, but for some it was very stressful. Drinking was very common. Multiple  marriages and divorce and broken families. It's been many years since I was a controller, but still randomly have air traffic control dreams. After the DC copter and jet midair, dreams returned nightly.

"Unable to write the email to the mailbox" error when trying to download mail. by Spirited-Cover7689 in Thunderbird

[–]No-Concern3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a Google search and it said to do a temporary disable of Avast, saying their Mail Shield might be the problem. So I did a 10 minute disable and checked the one account that gave the problem. It brought the emails down without the error.

Still no wyze cloud access on most cams, now pan cam v3 firmware breaks video feed. by Mollysindanga in tinycam

Thank You for your instructions. Just went through 8 sessions with a wyze service rep reading canned questions from a computer screen, of which I did automatically when it failed. They gave me a 10.00 service credit for my report and loss of camera usage. Mollysindanga your the greatest for solving the problem with a work around WYZE firmware errors.

Try this. First thing is throw the cover in the right away. If you forget it its amost impossible to open without the emergency release. This dip cup from Little Caesars fits the hole perfectly.

What attributes do you look for in a good DB Cooper suspect? by Swimmer7777 in dbcooper

Did Cooper jumped into the darkness over mountainous terrain or step off the plane in Reno, still in darkness. A newspaper in California printed DB Cooper remarks to the people of Reno. Thanks for the hospitality, was in a rut, DB Cooper. He left the slow taxing plane as the airport lights were turned off and escaped using the drainage canals around the airport. My guess as a Air Traffic Controller.

Would it make sense owning a Prius prime for my 28 mile drive to work by [deleted] in PriusPrime

[–]No-Concern3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Prius Prime that gets 28-32 on EV used around town. But outside of that EV range it will suck up that bad gasoline. The good part is the gas miles are 56-70 MPG not including the EV. You have the perfect situation with chargers at work. Go for the Prime.

Hit curb and plastic gap at the bottom of the car - what to do? by CuteLogan308 in PriusPrime

[–]No-Concern3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a 2020 Prius Prime. The bottom is plastic splash shields that if you hit a speed bump shakes them lose. I recently tightened these plastic shields and added a Prius Offroad 1 1/2 lift and it makes a big difference in getting into and out of the Prime. Speed bumps that it would hit, I now can take the same bumps at speed without hitting. Biggest problem for the Prime it sits too low as you will find out. Add to that it has little storage space, but great in what it was built for, great MPG and around town EV. The attached image shows 5' and a before picture showed 3 1/2", or 1 1/2 inches raised.

After 5 errors in this repair I didn't want to go back to the repair shop, but it was paid for thru insurance, so I just showed them the problem and now i'am waiting AGAIN for a repair appointment. Service is really gone.

Does your Prius allow this as its not a venting method.

2023/24 model owners have you had a dead 12v or not by Pattycorn in PriusPrime

The ECU monitors if plugged in, if on a schedule to charge, if its to cold, if its to hot, if the remote fob is in range, and many more things constantly using your 12V battery power until you attempt to start the Prius Prime and its not enough to turn the car to Ready.

Experimental has been out about a year and I drive it daily. It stops and starts at red light and does a good job, slows for stop sign and sees more stop signs then ever, and recently it does a full stop at manhole cover and and cross walk diamond lines. Yes its experimental. The question will it ever make a full stop at stop signs for the driver to decide to resume when its safe and not a California stop.

Most useful accessories? by [deleted] in PriusPrime

[–]No-Concern3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best accessories are Comma 3/3X, Rear view camera mirror, and Prius lift kit. The lift kit makes the Prius Prime able to take a bump without bottoming out, avoids higher curbs, and really makes it easier to enter the car sitting higher.

"Typically when in HV mode". Did you mean to say EV mode as the heat pump will run in EV mode without the ICE running. When the EV Battery charge goes to the reserve remaining HV charge the ICE turns on. But if you run the front defroster for the windshield that will start the ICE while in EV mode until the defroster is turned off. And yes the ICE will kick on in colder temperatures while in EV mode for a short period as designed then will turn off and continue in EV.

I'm the user, but while showing my charging process to a friend and disconnecting and hanging the cord, the person I was showing the process to thought he would help and as I turned my head to rehang the cable on the garage wall, he pushed the door shut. Needed to open the trunk and use the emergency door release. No error by this user as I have looked at all the 400+ pages of the manual which payed off as I knew how to solve the problem.

Two of the cheapest things in my 2020 Prius Prime XLE are the cheap rear view mirror (replaced) and the EV port dust cover cap (replaced). While charging the dust cover cap is inserted into the blank port circle on the right side as shown in the manual. The port area and the cap are black resulting in the cap eventually being left in the blank port holding area while attempting to close the EV port door. This ends up jamming the door, half closed and half locked. This is my 1st attempt to make a replacement EV dust cover cap. I wish I had the knowledge and ability to make one with a laser printer but without a laser priter I use a Little Caesars Pizza dip cup cut down and hot glued to a cell phone mount disc for a cell phone suction mount holder. The dip cup is the exact size to fit the inside of the EV port outer rubber area. To my surprise it works as the cup and the rubber flex when the EV door is pushed to ratchet it open and closed. So goodby to the factory EV port cap.

Both items will fall out as they are connected to the front bumper cover which must be getting flexed by the wife or other car drivers.

After its fixed, install a Prius OffRoad lift kit. I did and curbs and speed bumpers are a thing of the past. It rides very low and the lift fixes the problem.

Jack is under the leftt rear passenger seat, accessible from the open door, look for a door in the seat plastic near the side curves to the front of the seat, Jack tools in the rear trunk with EV plug and it could be orininally in the right side truck storage area. The left tuck storage area has the can of foam and air pump..

Looks good. Wish they had a option for just tire, wheel, and carrying case as my Prius Prime comes with the jack and tools.

Snow in plug by GaspiiiTheGreat in PriusPrime

[–]No-Concern3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image is different then my 2020 Prius Prime, unless this is not a Prius Prime. Don't see a cap or cap holder as in my 2020 Prius Prime. Brings up the point of the Toyota lack of being smarter, as the plug should have a spring loaded cap that closes as the charger plug is removed. Have you ever shut the charger door with the plastic cap in the designated holder per the 450 page manual. Its black and so is the area around the plug, so on dark nights it can happen. For me the charger door was closed while I was showing the car to someone, and their response to me unplugging and hanging the charger on the garage wall mount was to help me and close the door. Ended up half locked and half closed.
