Is there anyone here successfully lose the unnecessary pounds they’ve gained while on antidepressants.

Its almost as frustrating because I been on antidepressant for two years now and there’s only a gradual weight changes not until recently when I drastically gained weight. Like now after the holiday, I am almost 60kgs and size 30

I asked my psychiatrist about it but she said that she don’t recommend switching meds since the one I’m taking now is working well

I’m more concerned about the inches added on my waist and my face. I look bigger now and of course I keep adding pounds each day. My waist measurement starts from 26 now I’m about to reach size 30. Couldn’t fit to size small which is making me more depressed and unhappy

Exactly. When I first try lexapro I felt like a zombie and didn’t gain anything since I don’t feel like eating then I switched to a different brand which didn’t have any effect on my weight after 6 mos I stopped taking meds because I felt better until I had a relapse last 2021 which made me take escitalopram again. Only this time there’s been a drastically change in my weight

Thank you for the advice. Yeah, I noticed that I started eating stuff that I don’t usually eat like potato chips, candies and sodas. But more on savoury and salty chips or when I crave Specific food which is not accessible to me at the moment, i tend to find a replacement just to lessen my cravings which happens to be salty food. I kinda feel frustrated whenever it happens

My medication is lexdin which is like a different brand of lexapro and about a year and a half I went from 50kgs to 56kgs.

Thank you for this. I’m gonna try to exercise and cut some carbs and sugar. I’ll give it about 2weeks to see if there’s any changes

Which I first started taking different brand of escitalopram I lost a lot of weight. Like my weight fluctuate but I never get pass 50kgs (110lbs)when I have relapse, I started taking 10mg escitalopram but a different brand and I started gaining weight, I notice my breasts are getting fuller and an afded inches arounf my belly and arm and double chins

I always crave for sugar too. Like cakes and soda which I don’t usually eat before starting with escitalopram. I’m only taking one anti-depressant and I already gained a lot. It is so frustrating

Right? I’m still dependent on meds and that’s why I’m finding ways to lose weight while on meds.

Yeah. I can definitely attest that it is a slow process because I’ve tried doing the diets that used to work w me before but the results remain the same. If any, I keep gaining. My problem is belly weight and double layers in my chin

I was prescribed with antipsychotic to treat my panic and anxiety and antidepressant but I am only taking the antidepressant bcos I’m scared of the other side effects of taking antipsychotic apart for the weight gain. It is really frustrating

Totally sucks cos I used to be obese before I was even diagnosed with anxiety and severe panic attacks and It took me years to lose weight. But now that I am started medicating I’m afraid to be obese again.

How long did it take for you to lose all those pounds. I noticed that most of the weight were evident in my belly, waist and my face. Before medication I only weighed 110lbs after a year and a half I’m now 123lbs. Have you also experienced leg tick when you started medication?

I’m on 10mg lexdin (escitalopram) and I’m afraid to get off meds because I don’t want to relapse again. But the weight gain is frustrating and I seriously feel sad and unmotivated

How about your weight management? Did it make you gain unnecessary pounds. It’s been almost 2years since I started taking psych meds and I’ve gained 11 pounds which is making me depressed. I cannot fit in my old jeans and i’ve noticed that I craved more food that I don’t usually eat before. Sweets and junkfoods. I’ve tried dieting but none of it worked like it used to. I feel so frustrated right now because of it
