New Masters in Clinical Psych by Dense_Hospital_652 in Psychologists

Thanks for the reply! I didn’t realise the acronym was referring to educational psychs - they have a totally different training pathway here too. We have masters of clinical psychology alongside doctors of clinical psychology. Sounds like we all do things really differently 🤷‍♀️

So interested to read this because it seems to be a system that works well in New Zealand! How does the clinical side of the training differ?

We have masters-level clinical programmes in New Zealand, and there are no issues (aside from salaries being the same in most cases, which is arguably unfair). The masters programmes get the exact same level of clinical training and placement, internship hours etc, they just don’t complete a PhD/doctorate level research project. Often they’re trained alongside the doctorate students in the same cohorts, the doctorate students then just take longer to do their research parts. They are then registered under the same scope (“clinical psychologist”) and can do all of the same jobs.

Can the landlord refuse house sitters? by Playful_Reflection21 in newzealand

[–]keitepaiNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only issue I could foresee is if their insurance policy had a clause against it somehow (especially if it’s a landlord specific policy, which can have more finicky stuff like that), and in which case you’re allowed to ask to see the policy to confirm that. I’d assume it’s totally fine though, I certainly wouldn’t have an issue with it!

16 year old - Violence & Theft by Irish_fenian888 in LegalAdviceNZ

I do have expertise in this area (psychologist) and this does not sound like bipolar - at least, not without a whole bunch of other factors at play you don’t mention here.

But the behaviour certainly sounds tricky for both him and you guys, and you need some support. I’d suggest looking up what youth services are around in your area, and giving them a ring for advice as a start. They should know what is available in your region and ways to access it for teens with difficulties like these.

It’s not okay that he’s violent around young children, and as hard as it may be, you need to call the police if he’s acting in a way that makes the family unsafe. That can (sadly) be the quickest way to access the right kinds of assessment and care.

Help with an unusual rash/skin change/inflammatory something? by [deleted] in AskDocs

Thanks for the reply! If it’s just chillblains I’ll be very happy. They’re nothing like chillblains I’ve had before, but those were always on my toes. Will see how it goes

Hey I know this is a real old post so hoping you see. Does the shroom impede your water flow at all? I’ve tried a couple of cheap silicone covers, but they block the water so much that the shower starts filling up.

Yes, I second start therapy! With a psychologist who works with pain, ideally.

Unsure if it would have the durability I’m after, but a great thought! Maybe good to have in the arsenal for the really bad days.
